El español mantiene el paso firme en el Masters 1000 de Shangai. Logró un gran triunfo frente al norteamericano al derrotarlo por 6-7, 6-2 y 7-6 en los cuartos del torneo. En la siguiente instancia se medirá ante el ganador del alemán Mayer, verdugo de Nadal, o su compatriota Feliciano López

Ferrer pudo incluso haber acabado antes el partido de haber aprovechado una ventaja de 5-3 en el primer desempate de la tarde, y luego, en el décimo juego del tercer set, cuando dispuso de la primera bola para liquidar la contienda, y alcanzar así la segunda semifinal de un Masters 1.000 esta temporada (Montecarlo).

No obstante, Ferrer se mantuvo con calma, sacó incluso mejor que Roddick, uno de los mejores bombarderos del circuito, igualando sus once directos, y en el segundo desempate consolidó su victoria, la sexta en diez enfrentamientos, y la quinta de ocho en pista dura, lo que prueba su destreza también en esta superficie.

Ferrer, quinto jugador que competirá en la Copa Masters de Londres, se enfrentará en semifinales contra el ganador del encuentro entre el español Feliciano López y el alemán Florian Mayer, verdugo de Rafael Nadal.

El entrenador de Boca habló del gran momento de su equipo y elogió el rendimiento del enganche. «Demostramos ser superiores a los rivales», agregó. Opinó sobre el presente de River y manifestó: «Se va acostumbrando al torneo y va marcando diferencias»

“Me da placer dirigir a Riquelme. Estoy muy contento por el día a día que tenemos, por la buena convivencia, el feeling. Esperemos seguir así”, dijo Julio César Falcioni, contento por el presente de su equipo y, sobre todo, por el gran rendimiento del enganche, la piedra basal de este Boca líder.

“Boca demostró que es superior al adversario en juego, manejo y recuperación, y eso da placer. Seguramente al hincha lo pone muy feliz”, agregó Falcioni, que luego marcó: “El equipo está concentrado, bien, tratando de que los demás no le saquen ventaja y eso es un sistema de concentración”.

En declaraciones a diario Olé, Falcioni también tuvo tiempo para hablar de River. “Está muy bien, muy seguro y firme. Nace en el compromiso y en la predisposición al trabajo.
Vi algunos partidos en la concentración. Poco a poco se va acostumbrando al formato que le presentan los demás equipos y va marcando la diferencia. También es una buena experiencia para Matías (Almeyda)”, ahondó.

Grondona tiene el vía libre para la reelección

Por una resolución de la justicia santafesina quedó sin efecto el amparo presentado por el club Colón de San Lorenzo. De esta manera, el próximo lunes se llevará a cabo la Asamblea que deteminará un nuevo mandato para el actual presidente

A través de un comunicado expuesto en su página oficial, la Asociación del Fútbol Argentino remarcó que, según una medida resuelta por la Cámara de Apelaciones en lo Civil y Comercial de Rosario, “no se advierte que el Estatuto alcance ilegalidad”.

De esta manera, el próximo lunes 17 se llevará a cabo la Asamblea que determinará una nueva reelección de Julio Grondona al frente de la AFA, más allá de las protestas originarias que partieron del club santafesino, Sportivo Guzmán de Tucumán e Independiente Rivadavia de Mendoza.

En la votación a presidente sólo participan los clubes de Primera, ocho de la B Nacional, cuatro de Primera B, tres de Primera C y siete en representación de las instituciones del interior del país.

Actualmente Grondona tiene 80 años y es presidente de la AFA desde 1979, luego de haber sido el titular en Arsenal e Independiente.

En la fecha, 13 de octubre de 2011, la Cámara de Apelaciones en lo Civil y Comercial de la Ciudad de Rosario Provincia de Santa Fe, por su Sala II resolvió en los autos “Club Atlético Colón de San Lorenzo c. Asociación del Fútbol Argentino s. Amparo” “declarar la inadmisibilidad de la acción de amparo entablada y como consecuencia, revocar la medida cautelar ordenada…” en la Primera de las instancias por la cual se suspendía la Asamblea ordinaria a llevarse a cabo el próximo 18 de octubre de 2011 en la Asociación del Fútbol Argentino para tratar, entre otros puntos, la elección de Presidente. Se fundamenta la sentencia revocatoria en que no se advierte que el Estatuto de AFA alcance arbitrariedad o ilegalidad respecto a la forma de elección de su Presidente; además que las actuaciones de AFA “resultan legítimas y conforme a las normas vigentes que regulan el ámbito de desempeño de las asociaciones, en este caso, deportivas”, que la aprobación del Estatuto por el órgano administrativo (Inspección General de Justicia) contiene las pautas para su propia modificación, a través del procedimiento que el mismo establece, entre otras.

Batista files lawsuit against Maradona

Coach Sergio Batista filed a lawsuit against Diego Maradona accusing him of slander and called for a 20,000 pesos fine.
The conflict between the two last coaches of the national football team began when Maradona accused his former teammate at the Mexico 1986 World Cup of “asking for money” to promote players to the “albiceleste.”
The lawsuit was presented by attorney Zenón Alejandro Ceballos, but it has not been ratified yet.
According to the report, Maradona’s statements were “intentional” and were “easily spread by the media due to his sport’s reputation.” The presentation also stated that the situation had “a strong moral damage” for Batista.

GRAINS-Soy rises for 5th day, wheat rebounds after selloff

SINGAPORE, Oct 14 (Reuters) – Chicago soy futures rose for a
fifth straight session on Friday, buoyed by expectations of
higher demand from China, the world’s top importer, and firm
cash market in the United States.
Wheat rose 0.4 percent after sliding more than 6 percent in
the last two days following the U.S. government forecast of
higher global and U.S. grain supplies, while corn gained 0.2
percent in early Asian trade.

FUNDAMENTALS
* Soy has rallied this week on support from firm cash
markets as well as some end user buying, shrugging off customs
data showing China’s imports of soybeans fell 11 percent in
September from a year ago.
* But traders expect China’s soy import to climb in the
coming months on the back of positive crush margins and strong
demand from the livestock industry.
* The National Oilseed Processors Association’s monthly
crush data slated for release on Friday should show the U.S.
crush for September at 118.05 million bushels, analysts
projected on Thursday.
* The wheat market has been under pressure since Wednesday
when the USDA boosted its domestic wheat stocks outlook by 10
percent and raised its world supply view by 4 percent in its
monthly crop report.
* Argentina’s 2011/12 wheat harvest is expected to total at
least 12.6 million tonnes, down from 15.8 million tonnes last
season, the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange said in its first
estimate of the crop.
* The U.S. government confirmed the sale of 900,000 tonnes
of U.S. corn to China, signaling the country’s emergence as a
major importer that could prove to be explosive for grains
markets.
* It was the second largest sale of U.S. corn in a single
day to China which came a day after China said it was buying 1.5
million tonnes of the grain. There was an
additional 292,110 tonnes of U.S corn sold to unknown
destinations, USDA said.

MARKET NEWS
* The euro slipped against the dollar on Thursday a day
after hitting an almost one-month high, as investors refocused
on worries about European banks and a deteriorating growth
outlook for the euro zone.
* Brent crude snapped six sessions of gains on Thursday,
trading slightly lower after data showed further declines in oil
demand from No. 2 consumer China.
* The Dow and S&P 500 slipped on Thursday after JPMorgan’s
earnings and China’s soft trade data revived worries about the
impact of slower growth on profits.

Berlusconi seeks confidence vote

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi speaks next to Finance Minister Giulio Tremonti, at Italy»s Chamber of Deputies.
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi today called a vote of confidence in his government, saying a collapse of his centre-right coalition now would be catastrophic for the country and its economy.

Under pressure over corruption and sex scandals and facing criticism for his centre-right government’s erratic handling of the economic crisis, Berlusconi has accused the left-wing opposition of «obsessively» seeking to drive him from office.

In an impassioned address to parliament, he said there was no viable alternative to his government and that if it fell now, the only alternative would be early elections.

«A government crisis now would be a victory for those who want to see (Italy) fall into decline, catastrophe and the kind of speculation we have seen for months in Europe and Italy,» Berlusconi said.

Berlusconi, under pressure by Italy’s president as well as the central bank governor to prove he can deal with the nation’s myriad social and economic problems, said he was confident that he would win the vote, which is due to be held early Friday afternoon.

Berlusconi also said his coalition was united despite occasional «accidents» such as a loss of a key parliamentary vote on Tuesday that triggered the latest crisis in his coalition and repeated a vow to balance the budget by 2013.

In a boost to the premier’s prospects, Umberto Bossi, leader of the Northern League ally in the coalition, said Berlusconi was «convincing» and predicted the government would win the vote.

Analysts say that even if Berlusconi wins, he will emerge so bruised that it will be only a matter of months before a new crisis hits and that the country will likely hold early elections next year, a year before they are scheduled.

Most opposition parties boycotted the speech but then returned for the debate and said they would vote against Berlusconi on Friday.

«The speech in political terms was simply pathetic. Pathetic,» said Pierluigi Bersani, head of the Democratic Party, the largest in the opposition. «Apart from the confidence vote, how does he intend to make this government work? He just didn’t give any answers.»

Berlusconi sought the confidence vote after the coalition – racked by internal dissent – suffered a major embarrassment when it failed to pass a routine budget provision on Tuesday.

A number of centre-right deputies were absent for that vote, infuriating Berlusconi and feeding suspicions that some dissenters deliberately stayed away to send a message to the prime minister about the deep malaise within the coalition.

During the event, the minister remarked that “We [government] are building a one way path in which the goal at the end of the road is to put the education as the first priority of the public policies”, and added, “We are responding to the people as it constantly ask us for strengthen the education system.”

During the first day of the 47 IDEA Colloquium held at the Sheraton Hotel in Mar del Plata, the head of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), José Ignacio de Mendiguren, admitted that they are following with attention how could the era post-Moyano be, although he made it clear that he does not see the truck driver in an unimportant role in the next years. “We don’t see a post-Moyano era without him. He won’t be the head of the CGT, but he will be in charge of a union as important as the Transport one,” De Mendiguren stated.
Regarding this time where the Argentine businessmen are closely monitoring the global economic situation, the head of the UIA affirmed that in the country “we have to keep on developing the value chains that are Argentina’s productive matrix.” Besides, he emphasized that it is the way that the country could avoid “being vulnerable after a possible international commodities prices’ drop.”
Referring to the income distribution, De Mendiguren affirmed that it is important to discuss the improvement of the purchasing power and not only “aspirate to an nominal improvement of the salaries.”

Foreign language Oscar brings 63 entrants

Oscar organizers said they received entrants from 63 countries for this year’s foreign language film award, including a first-time submission from New Zealand called «The Orator.»
The Oscars, which are given out by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, are the world’s top film honors, and being nominated for the foreign language award brings prestige that helps those movies lure audiences.
Among some of the more talked about foreign language titles already in 2011 are Polish entry «In Darkness,» a Holocaust drama that played well at September’s Toronto International Film Festival, and Spain’s «Black Bread,» which earlier this year won nine of its home country’s top awards, the «Goyas.»
The motion picture academy will narrow the list of 63 films to five nominees that will be named on Jan. 24. The Oscars take place on Feb. 26, at a gala ceremony in Los Angeles.

Murray marches on in Shanghai, Ferrer survives

Britain’s Andy Murray remained on course for an Asian hat-trick when he beat Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka 6-4 3-6 6-3 to reach the quarter finals of the Shanghai Masters.
The in-form Scot, who won back-to-back titles in Bangkok and Tokyo, suffered a slight wobble when leading 5-0 in the deciding set before closing out victory.
With several top names already departed in his half of the draw the world number four now looks a hot favourite to retain his title at the Qi Zhong Tennis Centre.
Third seed David Ferrer also moved into the last eight after saving three match points in a 1-6 7-5 6-2 victory over fellow Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero — a victory that also sealed his place in the ATP World Tour finals in London next month.
Only three spots are now left for the eight-man tournament.
Murray marched through the first set against Wawrinka but went off the boil in the second as errors began to flow.
However, he took charge in the decider to forge into a 5-0 lead before the 19th ranked Wawrinka staged a late fightback.
Murray, unbeaten since losing to Rafa Nadal in the U.S. Open semi-finals, ended the contest with a forehand winner.
He will face either Frenchman Gilles Simon or Australia’s Matthew Ebden in the quarter-finals while Ferrer is up against American Andy Roddick after he overcame Nicolas Almagro 6-3 6-4.

French prosecutors drop Strauss-Kahn probe

French public prosecutors dropped an investigation today into a writer’s accusation of attempted rape against former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn due to lack of evidence.
The Paris public prosecutor’s office said evidence existed suggesting sexual assault but a prosecution on that lesser charge was not possible under the statute of limitations. The incident at the centre of the complaint dates back to 2003.
Strauss-Kahn, a Socialist who was once runaway favourite to become next French president, quit as head of the International Monetary Fund in May after police arrested him in New York on charges of attempting to rape a hotel maid. He denied the charges, which were later dropped.
In France, he was accused by writer Tristane Banon, a woman 30 years his junior, of attempted rape in a Paris flat where she went to interview him eight years ago.
While it would have been possible to launch a prosecution on a count of attempted rape, other sex assault charges fall outside the judicial time limits.
«What came to light is that, while there is not enough evidence to pursue on a count of attempted rape, there are elements that can be qualified as sexual assault,» the prosecutor’s office said in a statement on the outcome of a preliminary inquiry by police.
Since the incident dated back to 2003 and Banon had only filed her complaint in 2011, the matter could not be pursued, the statement said.
Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers had dismissed the accusations and launched a counter-suit against Banon for alleged defamation.
Banon’s lawyer, David Koubbi, said Thursday’s outcome was disappointing but proved her complaint was not a figment of her imagination.
US prosecutors decided in August to drop charges against 62-year-old Strauss-Kahn, citing concern over the credibility of the hotel maid, Nafissatou Diallo. Her lawyers have threatened to start civil proceedings.
In an emailed reaction to events in Paris, a lawyer for Diallo, Douglas Wigdor, said: «We have supported and believe that Ms Banon was sexually assaulted by Mr Strauss-Kahn and are pleased that the prosecutors in Paris, as has been reported, have found evidence supporting a sexual assault.»
In a recent interview with French television, Strauss-Kahn said the nine-minute sexual encounter with Diallo that led to his arrest and a three-month legal battle was consensual. But he said: «It was a moral error and I am not proud of it.»
The case abruptly ended his globe-trotting IMF career and his plans to run in next April’s French presidential election. Opinion polls show that both remaining Socialist contenders for the nomination — Francois Hollande and Martine Aubry — are in the lead against conservative incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy.

Obama: alleged Iran plot will worsen isolation

An alleged Iranian plot to kill the Saudi ambassador to the United States will prompt Washington to apply the toughest possible sanctions to further isolate Iran, US President Barack Obama said.

Speaking at a news conference, Obama said the United States would not take any options off the table in dealing with Iran, a phrase U.S. officials regularly use toward Tehran and that is diplomatic code for the possibility of military action.

US authorities on Tuesday said they had broken up a plot by two men linked to Iran’s security agencies to assassinate Saudi Ambassador Adel al-Jubeir. One was arrested last month while the other was believed to be in Iran.

Iran denied the charges and expressed outrage at the accusations.

In addition to prosecuting the men, Obama told reporters that the United State would continue «to apply the toughest sanctions and continue to mobilize the international community to make sure that Iran is further and further isolated and pays a price for this kind of behavior.»

«Now, we don’t take any options off the table in terms of how we operate with Iran, but what you can expect is that we will continue to apply the sorts of pressure that will have a direct impact on the Iranian government until it makes a better choice in terms of how it’s going to interact with the rest of the international community,» he added at a news conference with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak.

Hamilton cool on making peace with Massa

Lewis Hamilton moved to patch up relations with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa but made clear he would not be fussed if the Brazilian let their Formula One feud fester on.
«If he doesn’t want to be a grown up about it, then that’s fine,» he told reporters ahead of the Korean Grand Prix.
Hamilton and Massa have clashed on track at three races, most recently in Japan last weekend when the Brazilian again called on the governing body to take action against his rival for what he considered aggressive driving.
Race stewards at Suzuka investigated the incident, that saw Massa lose a front wing endplate in the collision while challenging for fourth place, during the race but decided not to take any action.
Massa told reporters at Yeongam that he had spoken to race director Charlie Whiting about Hamilton and would not be seeking the driver out to clear the air or making any formal complaint.
Hamilton, who beat Massa to the 2008 title by a single point, hopes the two can bury the hatchet and move on.
«Of course the situation has not been great for some time now,» said Hamilton, preparing for McLaren’s 700th Formula One race.
«I’ve always had respect for Felipe and still do today, regardless of the negative comments that he’s constantly coming up with.
«It’s easy in this sport, when you’re competitive and in the heat of the moment, to say things that perhaps you don’t mean, whether or not he does mean them,» added the 26-year-old.
«But regardless I’ve tried to show respect, particularly in the last race. I’m very, very sorry for that. I really didn’t see him. I’ve just seen the replay today and he was quite far up the outside of me but out of my mirrors.
«I think I’ve been in the wrong place in the last few races,» continued Hamilton.
«I hope that in the future we can put our guards down and he can be cool with me again. I’m cool with him, so I have no problems with him.»

Belgrano and Nuñez neighbourhood’s traffic stopped as the Justin Bieber concert took top priority last night. The rain did not stop the fever for the teen pop sensation, as he shook the crowd, performing before 45 thousand young screaming fans at River Plate last night.
The idol for millions of teens the world over arrived to Buenos Aires two days ago from Brazil to perform two consecutive concerts in Argentina as part of his ‘My World Tour’.
Heavy rain was forecasted for last night and tonight’s concert, however that did not stop the fans from lining up days before Bieber arrived for the chance to get to see the teen who shot to superstardom in 2008.
Argentine fans had patiently waited two years for the Canadian teen pop star to take to the stage, causing the infamous ‘Bieber fever’ in female fans of all ages.
The star will perform his second and last gig in Buenos Aires tonight at Monumental Stadium, before continuing his tour. His next stop will be Chile followed by Venezuela.

Opposition deputies release October’s dissident inflation rate

A group of opposition deputies released the dissident inflation rate (a.k.a Congress index) for October. The index, which was set at 1.89 percent, is based on reports delivered by some private consultants, which differ substantially from that release by the INDEC Statistics Bureau Agency.
The presentation of the so called “Congress inflation index” is an average made by half a dozen private consultant companies, which under the aegis of a group of opposition lawmakers seek to avoid the monetary sanctions imposed by Domestic Trade Secretary, Guillermo Moreno to those who release statistics on price trends.
The announcement was made at the “José Luis Cabezas” room of the Lower House, and was conducted by deputies Patricia Bullrich, Eduardo Amadeo (Federal Peronism), Federico Pinedo (PRO); and and Silvana Giudici (Radical Party).
Meanwhile, the official Consumers Price Index (IPC in Spanish) released by the INDEC stood at 0.8 percent, less than half of the one addressed by anti-Kirchnerite lawmakers.

«We hope the U.S. Congress, people, and President Barack Obama act with dignity for the good of justice, truth, and the peoples’ rights,» the outstanding human rights activist stressed.

In a message made public in Buenos Aires, the president of the Peace and Justice Service in Argentina emphasized that the release of Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labanino, Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, and Rene Gonzalez is the clamor of the peoples who fight for a fairer, friendly world for all.

Using sovereignty and self-determination of the peoples as pretext, the United States aims to subdue other countries by force, leaving democracy and the United Nations itself meaningless and without values, the text reads.

In the name of human rights, the U.S. government violates them systematically in its country and abroad, causing destruction and deaths; and in the name of democracy, those people who demand respect for their rights are chased, the document added.

How will Team USA fare at Pan Am Games?

GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Just like the Olympics, the Pan American Games come around every four years and bring together a team of talented athletes from the United States to compete in a multi-sport international event.

Unlike the Olympics, however, stars like swimming great Michael Phelps and runner Allyson Felix prefer to skip the event altogether.

«At the end of the day, I think the scheduling of these games was a little bit more challenging than normal just because it was October instead of the summer,» United States Olympic Committee secretary general Scott Blackmun said Thursday, a day before the opening ceremony in rainy Guadalajara.

«Much of our team historically is comprised of collegiate athletes who are in their college seasons or otherwise in school right now,» Blackmun added. «In other cases we had some scheduling challenges. The best example of that I think is the gymnastics championships in Tokyo. We had athletes competing there up until a couple of days ago. It is not safe for them to go straight from one competition to another.»

The Pan American Games started in 1951 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and have twice been staged in the United States. Traditionally, the best athletes from the United States competed in order to get big-time experience. A few of the more famous Americans to win gold medals at the Pan Am Games are swimmer Mark Spitz and sprit-long jumper Carl Lewis. Both went on to record-setting glory at the Olympics.

But these days, swimming, track and field and other sports have their own world championships, and those events have become more important in the run up to the Olympics.

The Americans are still favored to finish at the top of the medals table in Guadalajara, as usual. But United States chief of sport performance Alan Ashley said that wasn’t the outright goal. With about 650 athletes, more than the projected team for next year’s Olympics, the Americans are in Mexico to win medals and qualifying places for the London Games.

«We haven’t actually sat down and said we are going to win the medal count. But I know that if you went to the individuals that will be on the field of play, they are going to come and absolutely give it their best shot,» Ashley said. «For those sports where we can still qualify (for the Olympics), we absolutely want to keep a lot of focus and effort on those.»

The lack of the biggest stars doesn’t mean that all top-level athletes skip the games. Steffen Peters, a three-time Olympian who was born in Germany but competes for the United States, made the trip to Guadalajara.

«Any time I can contribute to the U.S. team, I’d like to do so,» Peters said. «It’s always a big honor, even if it’s not as big as the Olympics.»

The Americans have 82 Olympians on the roster for the Pan Am Games, including gymnast Shawn Johnson and shooter Kim Rhode. Both have won four Olympic medals.

The biggest worry facing the Americans and the other 41 nations competing in 47 sports is security, but the streets of Guadalajara are being patrolled by an estimated 10,000 police and military personnel.

«We’ve been very pleased with the amount of security coverage that we have had in the village,» USOC games director Leslie Gamez said. «We have observed over the past days as more people have come into the village, the security presence has increased. We’ve not had any challenges whatsoever.»

Another worry has been the local meat in Mexico, which can contain the banned substance clenbuterol. But again, the Americans said they weren’t worried.

«They’ve done an excellent job of how they’ve sourced, how they’ve tested, just to make sure that the athletes are safe,» Ashley said of the local organizers. «They’ve really taken this quite seriously and we’re quite happy with it.»

And despite the absences of the country’s top swimmers and track stars, Blackmun was also happy with the group of athletes that made the trip south of the border.

«We think we got a pretty good team here,» Blackmun said, «but the results will speak for themselves.»

Malvinas: Argüello says UK does not ‘cut’ Islands’ budget to avoid migration to Argentina

Argentine Ambassador at the United Nations Jorge Argüello affirmed that the United Kingdom avoids “the social and employment assistance budget cut” in the Malvinas Islands because its inhabitants “would migrate to Argentina.”
During his speech at the “Malvinas Issue” conference held at Mexico’s Universidad Autónoma (UNAM), Argüello reminded “the street violence in Great Britain’s cities” registered a few months ago.

Anti-Wall St. protesters ready to block clean-up

Protesters with the Occupy Wall Street movement threatened on Thursday to block efforts to clean up the Lower Manhattan park where they set up camp nearly a month ago, raising concerns of a showdown with authorities.
While New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has said the protests against economic inequality can continue as long as laws are obeyed, the private owner of the publicly accessible Zuccotti Park said the park needs to be cleaned.
Owner Brookfield Office Properties plans to clean the park where several hundred protesters have been sleeping on Friday, a move that demonstrators believe is a ploy to remove them.
«Seems likely that this is their attempt to shut down #OWS (Occupy Wall Street) for good,» protesters said in a statement on Thursday. «We know where the real dirt is: on Wall Street … We won’t allow Bloomberg and the NYPD to foreclose our occupation. This is an occupation, not a permitted picnic.»
Brookfield Office Properties representatives, escorted by police, handed out notices to the protesters on Thursday to tell them that the park would be cleaned in three stages and would reopen for public use consistent with park regulations.
But the rules ban camping, tents or other structures, lying down on the ground, placing tarps or sleeping bags on the ground and the storage personal property — everything the protesters have been doing since they set up on Sept. 17.
«Brookfield respects the rights of free speech, assembly, and peaceful protest,» the company said in a statement.
Police said they will be on hand to ensure public order, but it is up to Brookfield Office Properties to enforce the rules of its park. Police will only become involved if laws are broken or if an official complaint is made by the park owners.
«I’m worried there is going to be a riot,» said Lauren DiGioia, 26, who has spent the past week at Zuccotti Park and is a member of Occupy Wall Street’s sanitation committee. «It is most definitely a ploy to get us out.»

Declaran a Margarita Barrientos «ciudadana ilustre» de la Ciudad

Impulsora de un comedor que todos los días alimenta a 1.600 personas, Margarita Barrientos fue declarada hoy ciudadana ilustre de Buenos Aires en una iniciativa conjunta de los bloques del PRO y la UCR en la Legislatura porteña.

La obra de Barrientos, creada en octubre de 1996, funciona en el barrio de Villa Soldati y tiene además una fundación a su nombre que controla un centro de salud, una guardería para chicos de entre 1 y 5 años, una farmacia y una biblioteca.

En 1997, en reconocimiento a su empeño diario, la distinguieron «Vecina ejemplar de la Ciudad” y dos años después, en el ‘99, fue elegida «Mujer del Año». En el 2000, en tanto, la nombraron «Ciudadana Distinguida» de Añatuya, en Santiago del Estero.

Convención Internacional de Coleccionismo Cervecero y Gaseosas

La Dirección General de Museos, dependiente de la Subsecretaría de Cultura, anuncia la realización de la Convención Internacional de Coleccionismo Cervecero y Gaseosas, organizada por el Club Argentino de Coleccionistas de Cerveza y Gaseosas – «CyG». Será el próximo sábado 15 de octubre de 10 a 18 hs. en el Edificio de la Munich, sede de esta Dirección General, Av. de los Italianos 851, Puerto Madero, con entrada libre y gratuita.

Este edificio será el marco ideal para el evento, ya que fue inaugurado en 1927 para que funcionara allí la Cervecería Munich, un lugar de la Costanera Sur preferido por los porteños por más de tres décadas.

Durante la Convención se podrá canjear, comprar y vender coleccionables de cerveza y gaseosas: botellas, latas, posavasos, carteles, tapas corona, etiquetas, destapadores, chapas esmaltadas, pins, postales, cristalería, calendarios y más. Además, habrá disertaciones sobre el tema.

COMISIÓN DE PRESUPUESTO DE LA LEGISLATURA: EL MINISTRO DE JUSTICIA Y SEGURIDAD GUILLERMO MONTENEGRO DIO DETALLE DEL PLAN DE GASTOS PARA EL 2012

El Ministro de Justicia y Seguridad de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos, Guillermo Montenegro, junto a su gabinete, se presentó en el día de hoy en la Comisión de Presupuesto y Hacienda de la Legislatura Porteña, con el fin de dar un detalle del plan de seguridad para el ciclo 2012.

El Ministro explicó que hasta la fecha la ejecución del plan de seguridad pública en base a Presupuesto se encuentra en el 66, 67% de lo estimado; alcanzando la cifra de 1140 millones para el corriente año y estipulándose 1622 millones para el año entrante. De esta manera se incrementa el Presupuesto en un 4,22% sobre el total y un 4,98% este año del Presupuesto de la Ciudad.

El plan de Seguridad Pública está llegando al 90% debido a la incorporación de agentes y compras de materiales.
Montenegro informa además que se han desarrollado Políticas Preventivas (centros de monitoreo por ejemplo).

“Se cuenta con el Centro Unico de Comando y Control, destinado para emergencias médicas, civiles y sociales. En términos de seguridad se atiende las necesidades de la gente, siendo así como una especie de 911 pero con mayor capacidad tecnológica.

El Centro de Monitoreo cuenta con un móvil de exteriores. Ha dado respuesta a muchas crisis y emergencias. Hoy por primera vez la ciudad cuenta con un plan completo de emergencias.”

El Ministro sostiene que hay que avanzar en este sentido y en este modelo. Detectar vulnerabilidades y faltantes y cubrirlas. Para tener respuesta rápida hay que tener presencia en el lugar.

Informó que ya se encuentran instaladas 1200 Cámaras y que la idea es llegar a 2000. Se estima llegar a 150 cámaras por comuna.

En materia de Seguridad vial, los índices de víctimas fatales fueron reduciéndose. Desde el año 2008 hasta lo que va del corriente, se redujo un 30%. Se adjudica el avance en esta materia en el cambio de la forma de vida y la conducta de las personas. Para citar un ejemplo cabe destacar que en controles de alcoholemia que al inicio superaba el 2%, en la actualidad el promedio estándar llega a 0,6%.

Dentro de los logros de este sector, se encuentra el haber sido “pioneros” en controles de estupefacientes.

En Seguridad Privada, es importante la digitalización de datos, en infracciones por ejemplo. Se han adicionado 80 vehículos. Por cada patrullero se encuentran instaladas 4 cámaras y un GPS. El patrullero tiene la capacidad de guardar todo lo que ocurre dentro y fuera y además, puede emitir imágenes al centro de monitoreo.

La digitalización de todo el registro civil para el 2012 posibilitará guardar la información y dar respuesta más rápida a los requerimientos de las personas.

Por su parte, el Sub Secretario de Justicia Daniel Presti, remarcó que el centro único de comando y control, permite dar respuesta rápida a la tarea de la emergencia . “Ha dejado de ser una preocupación para la gente. Este centro es el único en Latinoamérica.. Poseemos el número “103” de emergencia que es gratuita, para los 365 días del año. Allí se pueden hacer denuncias por urgencias en la vía pública. Hay mucha calidad en la respuesta, ya que el 92% de las llamadas en segundos, se responden inmediatamente.”, dijo Presti.

Para el 2012 se planifican distintos tipos de subsidios, para aplicarlos en equipos de respuesta a emergencias en barrios carenciados. Se realizan tareas de primeros auxilios los fines de semana con personal altamente capacitado.

En Seguridad Urbana: 75.000 módulos fijos. Se ahorra 43.000.000 de pesos que se dejan de transferir a la Nación.
Se han realizado más de 1000.000 de controles de tránsito siendo la idea llegar a 2.500.000 para el 2012, considerándose faltas graves, semáforos rojos, entre otros.

Con respecto a la dirección general de seguridad vial se informó que fallecieron 61 personas, es decir 14 menos en comparación con el 2010.

Y comparando datos desde el 2008 al corriente hubo una importante baja del índice, llegando al 32%.Se prevé para el 2012 incrementar el número de agentes de tránsito e impulsar al trabajo conjunto con PNA (Prefectura Naval Argentina) , GNA (Gendarmería Nacional Argentina) y PFA (Policía Federal Argentina).

Con respecto al Plan “Bs As más segura”, se ha incrementado la recolección de datos criminológicos. Durante el año se ha recogido información de delitos. Se ha evaluado el desempeño de las Fuerzas y se busca seguir fortaleciendo estos aspectos en el próximo año.

Toda la información proveniente de la prensa se almacena en soporte digital y se analiza.
También se ha trabajado en la prevención social del delito y la violencia. promoviendo la cultura del trabajo en las zonas más carenciadas, apuntando a los jóvenes a partir de los 16 años. Con ello se busca la solución pacífica de conflictos. Se han realizado talleres conjuntamente con los Ministerios de Educación de la Ciudad.

En seguridad privada se apuntó a la supervisación de empresas, al control de credenciales y su digitalización.
El Sub Secretario de Administración Doctor Ignacio Greco dijo que a fin de año contamos con 2850 agentes más personal. Que se encuentra en plena ejecución de la obra civil de la comisaría de la comuna 4.

Se ha incrementado el Parque Automotor, 160 autos livianos, 16 de transporte, 52 motocicletas y 2 camionetas.

En cuanto a los vehículos en su gran mayoría están blindados, continuando con los faltantes. Se estima en el 2012 llegar a 3850 efectivos, y un importante crecimiento de la infra estructura, además de seguir sumando equipamientos para el personal como chalecos, armas, municiones, entre otros.

Una fuerte inversión en materia tecnológica se prevé para el próximo año .

En el 2010 se han producido 423 requerimientos de imágenes y en lo que va del año, 3500, de las cuales; el 50% ayudo a definir situaciones delictivas.

Luego expuso unas palabras la Rectora del Instituto Superior de Seguridad Pública, Dra Marcela de Larach.

Detalló como funciona la Institución. Como se dividen los cursos. La cantidad de agentes que ingresan por año y cómo se los capacita. “La Profesionalización es la única llave para igualar”, fue su frase ejemplificadora y aclaratoria de la intencionalidad de la Institución.

Cerró diciendo: “Esta Institución se va a convertir en un Instituto Universitario. Tenemos una política preventiva, no reactiva; por ello se necesita capacitación profesional”.

Al llegar la instancia de las preguntas a los invitados, como moneda corriente en el escenario del Palacio Histórico de la Legislatura Porteña, no han faltado los ataques verbales direccionados al Ministro de Seguridad, contienda que viene sosteniéndose desde el año anterior.

Por parte del doctor Julio Raffo, diputado de la CABA por Proyecto Sur, quien cuestiona severamente a Montenegro por no acompañar el Presupuesto con el Plan de Seguridad y lo acusa de tener la Policía Metropolitana un canal propio ( “Canal pronto Baires”) , por el cual se trasmiten imágenes e información propias. Además de cuestionar al Señor Ministro por privilegiar o favorecer de algún modo a empresas privadas a través de un Decreto (coloca de ejemplo a una agencia proveedora de vehículos).

Pero el broche de oro, lo coloca en bandeja, el Legislador de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Martín Hourest, quien plantea severamente la falta de un mapa del delito y del mapa de seguridad y agrega que ya va el cuarto año consecutivo que sucede lo mismo. A lo cual Montenegro responde que se está trabajando en un Programa complejo para dar solución a este tem.

En reportaje exclusivo a SEPRIN, el Director de Prevención de Delito Pablo García Mithieux, dio respuesta clara a estos interrogantes y acusaciones. Dijo que hay mucho atraso, más de un año por parte del Ministerio Público Fiscal, en cuanto a la presentación de la información que se necesita para la confección del mapa de delito.

Agregó que la información provista por este Organismo presenta mucha dificultad ya que se utiliza el viejo sistema de 53 comisarías y debe entonces condicionarse al sistema de comunas. Además se usan distintos campos y nomenclaturas que junto al atraso en cuanto entrega de la información y a los problemas técnico, dificultan aún más el diseño del mapa y lo retrasan en tiempo. De los 800.000 datos que llegan, 300.000 están mal. Estos, se deben homogeneizar ya que la información que se suministra en el primer nivel, surge de cada fiscalía y quien está a cargo utiliza el formato que desea sin consensuar con el resto.

Esta información es suministrada dos veces al año. Hasta el momento el Ministerio Público Fiscal ha entregado información hasta el 2010.

Mithieux explica que ellos lo único que miden estadísticamente es información en el campo cualitativo y no cuantitativo, ya que se manejan con los informes de los vecinos, existiendo denuncias que nunca cuentan, como es el caso de las efectuadas por abuso sexual.

En esta dependencia se recorren hogares, estimándose un promedio de 500 por cada comuna. Trabajan mucho en el tema de violencia, recorriendo permanentemente las zonas más conflictivas.

Más allá de las críticas de algunos Diputados Porteños, desde esta entidad se ha logrado que la “Unión de Ciudades Capitales Iberoamericanas” la elijan como Coordinadora de Prevención del Delito con respecto a las encuestas.

Por lo tanto lo que se deduce este reportaje, con respecto a las faltantes de esta Joven Entidad en este último tema, es responsabilidad de la Nación .

EL DOLOR DE UNA MUJER DESESPERADA: «La inseguridad no para y habrá más chicos sin papás”

La viuda del ex policía asesinado en la localidad bonaerense de Turdera, arremetió contra los jueces al advertir que «no quieren mover un pelito de lo que dice la ley mientras «los ‘malos» están paseando, apoyados por los derechos humanos».

¿Cómo sucedieron los hechos?

Andaba por acá y se fue a guardar su auto y aparentamente en un taller conocido lo estaban asaltando, se dio cuenta que le estaban por robar una camioneta y como era policía retirado defendió a las víctimas del asalto y puso su vida en peligro. Dio el alto policía y estos hombres lo mataron. Aparentamente atraparon a uno de ellos y después encontraron el auto y el cuerpo de uno de ellos.

¿Uno de los delincuentes habría fallecido tras el tiroteo?

Creo que fue uno con los que mi esposo se tiroteó. Es lo que pasó y pasa todos los días. Por ser policía se defendió pero capaz igual lo hubieran matado porque como se ve todos los días te van a robar el auto y te matan. Te matan a vos, matan a tu hijo, está pasando cualquier cosa. Vuelvo a pedir que por favor hagan algo los responsables, en lo que pueda ayudar yo voy a estar. Esto no es uns sensación es una realidad y es hora de que hagamos algo no solamente cuando nos tocan la plata del banco sino cuando nos tocan a nuestros hijos, nos están tocando nuestra vida. Necesito que todos estemos más unidos, hoy me pasó a mí pero quiero que no le pase a nadie más. Esto no va a parar, van a quedar más chicos sin papás y sin mamás. Hagamos algo y que los derechos humanos no sean solo para ellos, nosotros tenemos que tener derechos humanos, hay que cambiar las leyes y esto es urgente. Ahora le tengo que decir a María Laura, a mi hija de 8 años, que su papá el amor de su vida no está más.

¿Su familia tiene dinero?

No, vivimos en una casa prestada porque no podemos pagar el alquiler, ahora yo me quedo sin nada con una hija, y ahora voy a luchar por ella. Espero que un día cuando salga a la calle o vaya a un trabajo no me maten a mí porque no se con quien la voy a dejar. Hagan algo lo que puedan hacerlo.

Berlusconi: «No me haré lapidar por las oposiciones»

Solicitó la confianza para su gobierno ante Diputados tras el rechazo parlamentario de una norma clave del presupuesto.
Se refirió a la derrota del martes pasado como «un incidente en la mayoría».

El premier italiano, Silvio Berlusconi, al pedir en la Cámara de diputados una nueva votación de confianza para su gobierno, afirmó que no se hará «lapidar por las oposiciones».

Berlusconi, al solicitar la confianza para su gobierno, la número 56 de esta legislatura, tras el rechazo parlamentario de una norma clave del presupuesto, se refirió a esa derrota del martes pasado como «un incidente en la mayoría». «Ahora lo remediaremos», agregó.

«Estoy aquí, Italia lo logrará», afirmó hoy el premier enfatizando: «No me haré lapidar por las oposiciones».

«Estoy aquí para pedir la renovación de la confianza en el gobierno que tengo el honor de presidir. Un incidente parlamentario en el que la mayoría tiene responsabilidad y por el cual pido disculpas, se sana con un voto de confianza», expuso el premier.

Si bien habló de «incidente grave» sostuvo que «no habrá consecuencias en el plano institucional».

La votación de confianza se realizará mañana viernes.

Un mes de dólar planchado costó U$S 1565 millones al Banco Central

La autoridad monetaria ha utilizado fuertemente sus reservas para evita que la divisa ceda por fuga de capitales y la devaluación en Brasil. En el último mes el Banco Central (BCRA) ha realizado fuertes intervenciones en el mercado de divisas para asegurar un tipo de cambio que no supere $4,24 por dólar. Principalmente la fuga de capitales y la devaluación del real motivaron las presiones a una depreciación en el precio del dólar que se pacta en Buenos Aires.

En los últimos 28 días hábiles el precio del dólar osciló en $4,23 – $4,24 para la venta. En este período el BCRA vendió reservas por U$S 1565 millones para intervenir el mercado cambiario. En particular, hubo una fuerte acción en los futuros : el 20 de septiembre pasado la entidad adoptó una postura más agresiva y ofertó U$S 1.000 millones a $4,205 -en el mercado mayorista- en dos bloques: U$S 500 millones para fines de septiembre y U$S 500 millones para fines de octubre.

De acuerdo a los últimos datos provisorios, hasta ayer las reservas ascendían a U$S 48.196 millones. Así el dólar al público acumula un alza de 5,73% en lo que va del año, superior al 4,7% de todo 2010.

Vale destacar que desde el «jueves negro» del 4 de agosto pasado, la autoridad monetaria quebró sus ritmo de acumulación de reservas y ha vendido más de U$S 2.000 millones para sostener el valor de la divisa estadounidense. Más de tres cuartos de estas ventas fueron en el último mes.

Con estas intervenciones el BCRA aseguró un tipo de cambio «planchado» hasta después de las elecciones presidenciales de octubre.

POLÍTICA CAMBIARIA

El economista Luis Secco cuestionó la política cambiaria del Gobierno, y alertó sobre el agravamiento de la inflación como producto de los lineamientos monetarios que se aplican. «El gran problema de Argentina no es sólo la inflación, sino la política cambiaria que acompaña a esa inflación», dijo.

Secco opinó en radio El Mundo que «hay que darle prioridad a la efectividad de las políticas que está llevando adelante Brasil para mantener su ritmo de crecimiento».

«Me parece que Brasil compró tiempo con esta depreciación «, opinó el analista sobre la devaluación del real respecto del dólar, que podría llegar a cotizar 2 a 1, cuando hace poco tiempo era casi 1,5 a 1.

El economista consideró que esta devaluación a Brasil «le vino muy bien», porque indicó que «tiene márgenes ahora para volver a apreciar en un contexto en el cual en algún momento superada la incertidumbre global van a volver los ingresos de capitales a la zona».
