Ever since Oscar Lescano admitted that the Moyano era is coming to an end at the CGT labour confederation, the premise was installed as a fact. But, unlike the dreams of some unions, the business sector sees a similar movie that counts with the presence of Moyano.
During the first day of the 47 IDEA Colloquium held at the Sheraton Hotel in Mar del Plata, the head of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), José Ignacio de Mendiguren, admitted that they are following with attention how could the era post-Moyano be, although he made it clear that he does not see the truck driver in an unimportant role in the next years. “We don’t see a post-Moyano era without him. He won’t be the head of the CGT, but he will be in charge of a union as important as the Transport one,” De Mendiguren stated.
Regarding this time where the Argentine businessmen are closely monitoring the global economic situation, the head of the UIA affirmed that in the country “we have to keep on developing the value chains that are Argentina’s productive matrix.” Besides, he emphasized that it is the way that the country could avoid “being vulnerable after a possible international commodities prices’ drop.”
Referring to the income distribution, De Mendiguren affirmed that it is important to discuss the improvement of the purchasing power and not only “aspirate to an nominal improvement of the salaries.”
