Economy Minister and Vice-President-elect Amado Boudou is known for joining rock bands on stage and driving crowds wild while he plays some tunes on his guitar. Now, someone has taken his love for music one step futher.
Inspired on the hugely popular videogame “Guitar Hero,” the new online game “Boudou Hero” is already a sensation on the web, after Boudou himself mentioned it on his Twitter account.
“Join Boudou on stage,” reads the screen once you start playing, as you choose to play one of the songs by rock band La Mancha de Rolando, who usually played next to him during the presidential campaign.
In the game, Boudou is seen wearing a t-shirt that reads “Cristina 2011” and holding a Gibson Les Paul guitar.
“The Boudou Hero! This is so cool! Especially since I love Guitar Hero!” the Economy Minister tweeted.

SANAA — More than 20 Yemeni civilians, government troops and dissident soldiers were killed in overnight violence after President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s latest pledge to step down, medics said on Wednesday.
The deaths in the capital Sanaa and the country’s second largest city, Taez, came after Saleh told the US ambassador to Yemen he would sign a Gulf-brokered power transition plan to step down within 30 days.
The violence flared on Tuesday as the government’s declaration of a truce with rival forces failed to materialise.
A government statement released on the official state news agency said two civilians were killed Wednesday in shelling of residential areas in Sanaa, blaming anti-government forces for the deaths.
In a separate statement on the defence ministry website, the government said nine of its soldiers fighting tribesmen and rival forces loyal to dissident General Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar were also killed.
Medical officials, meanwhile, said the overall death toll from violence from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning had reached 21, including a woman and her infant child who died in Taez when their house was struck by shells.
Residents said government troops had been bombarding the city since Tuesday.
In Sanaa, at least seven armed tribesman loyal to powerful Sheikh Sadeq al-Ahmar died in clashes overnight in the Hasaba district, home of the chief and his extended family who have been battling government troops for weeks.
In a protest over the recent deaths of at least three women and three children, hundreds of women burned a pile of veils in a message to the country’s tribes to step up their protection of civilians from Saleh loyalists.
«The killing of women is shameful and disgraceful,» the women chanted as they doused a pile of scarves with gasoline and set them on fire.
«To the Yemeni tribes we say: ‘Your sons and daughters are being killed in the streets and you stand on the sidelines silent, watching,'» they said.
In a separate protest across town, several hundred female pro-Saleh supporters marched on the United Nations building in Sanaa, waving pictures of Saleh and chanting «the people want Saleh.»
The women delivered a letter to UN delegates demanding an «end to the terrorist acts» they said were being carried out by Sadeq’s tribesmen and Mohsen’s forces.
On Tuesday, the government declared a truce with Sadeq and Mohsen’s forces, but within minutes of the announcement, gunfire and explosions were heard throughout the city.
The violence erupted as the US State Department said Saleh had pledged to sign a Gulf Cooperation Council initiative and step down. Saleh, who has ruled Yemen for 33 years, has repeatedly failed to fulfil pledges to resign.
Yemen has witnessed one of the longest and bloodiest uprisings of the «Arab Spring,» with hundreds of Yemenis dead and thousands more wounded since January.
Saleh has for more than nine months refused, despite intensifying regional and international pressure, to heed the call of the tens of thousands of Yemenis who have held daily protests demanding his resignation.
The political stalemate has crippled the Yemeni economy, weakened the central government and prompted defections from Saleh’s staunchest allies.
Mohsen and Sadeq, once Saleh loyalists, are now his enemies having thrown their support behind the protest movement as their troops battle Saleh’s forces in increasingly deadly street clashes.

BUENOS AIRES (Dow Jones)–Argentina’s stocks and bonds tracked Wall Street rising higher on Wednesday, as investors bet that European policy makers are close to a lasting solution to the regions sovereign debt crisis.
The Merval index of leading shares rose 1.1% to close at 2880.78 on volume of 52.9 million pesos ($12.5 million).
U.S. and European markets rallied on news that European Union finance ministers will finalize details of a bank-recapitalization plan outlined by EU leaders on Wednesday.
«The tip of the week is wait for news out of Europe,» a Buenos Aires-based trader said.
Banking concern Grupo Financiero Galicia SA (GGAL, GGAL.BA) fell 0.2% to ARS4.57, utility holding company Pampa Energia SA (PAMP.BA, PAM) rose 1.6% to ARS2.53; aluminium smelter Aluar Aluminio Argentino SA (ALUA.BA) rose 2.9% to ARS3.88; and phone company Telecom Argentina SA (TECO2.BA, TEO) rose 3.1% to ARS20.05.
Turnover on the local bond market was ARS923.3 million, accounting for about 75% of the total volume of securities traded on the exchange during the session.
The peso-denominated 2033 discount bond rose 1.1% in price terms to ARS136.50, bringing the yield to 11.79%. The Bogar 2018 rose 0.6% to ARS210.52, to yield 12.65%, while the Bonar X closed 1% higher at ARS388.95, yielding 9.21%. The Boden 2015 rose 1.3% to ARS427.50, yielding 7.03%. The 2035 peso-denominated gross domestic product warrant dipped 0.2% to ARS15.85, while dollar GDP warrants closed 1.3% higher at ARS76.00.
The peso closed unchanged from the previous session at ARS4.2355 to the U.S. dollar on Argentina’s MAE foreign-exchange wholesale market Wednesday, bringing its year-to-date loss to 6.1%.
Under the Central Bank of Argentina’s managed exchange rate policy, the peso is allowed to gradually weaken to help exporters and check inflation.
Puente brokerage said in its afternoon foreign-exchange comment that the central bank was a net seller of dollars during the session to the tune of $180 million, bringing its total sales so far this week to $430 million.
«The monetary authority made itself felt in the spot market, selling close to $200 million and only near the end of the session could it repurchase some of what it had sold,» Puente strategists wrote.
The central bank and social security agency Anses have stepped up their intervention in the foreign-exchange markets in recent months to keep the peso steady in the face of heavy capital outflows.
Investors fear that President Cristina Kirchner will be forced to allow the peso to weaken at a swifter pace as double-digit inflation causes the local currency to appreciate in real terms with negative implications for exporters in the manufacturing sector. The central bank’s managed float of the peso has dented its international reserves, which fell to $47.7 billion on Wednesday from $50 billion at the end of August. The administration’s response has been to deter the public from buying dollars, while at the same time forcing resource companies to repatriate all of their export revenues.
A presidential decree published Wednesday in the Official Bulletin abolished regulations that allowed oil and gas companies to freely dispose of up to 70% of their export revenues. Mining companies, which up until now were largely free of foreign-exchange restrictions, will also have to repatriate all of their export proceeds.
«In our view the authorities should make several adjustments to their macroeconomic policy mix to cool down expectations of much faster depreciation being priced by the market,» Nomura Securities strategist Boris Segura.
At the beginning of the week, the central bank, anti-money laundering agency UIF, and tax agency AFIP launched a broad crackdown on foreign-exchange houses and individuals seeking to buy dollars in the nation’s capital in a bid to reduce the pressure on reserves.

A genetically engineered version of the virus that causes herpes shows promise as a treatment for a particularly aggressive type of breast cancer, according to a new study in animals.
The virus targeted and killed triple-negative breast cancer cells in mice. Triple-negative breast cancer is a form of breast cancer that cannot be treated with hormone therapies, such as tamoxifen and Herceptin.
The results are preliminary, and it’s not clear whether the therapy will have the same effect on tumors growing in people. Much more research is needed to determine this. If a treatment is developed, it will likely be used in conjunction with other cancer therapies, including chemotherapy and radiation, the researchers said.
The study will be presented today (Oct. 24) at the meeting of the American College of Surgeons in San Francisco.
Herpes therapy
Triple-negative breast cancer accounts for about 20 percent of all breast cancer cases. It disproportionally effects young, African-American women and is usually treated with chemotherapy. (Triple-negative breast cancers are not fueled by the hormone estrogen, so they do no respond to treatments designed to block the hormone.)
Study researcher Dr. Sepideh Gholami, a research fellow in the at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. and colleagues infected breast cancer cells in a dish with a herpes virus called NV1066. Within a week, the virus killed up to 90 percent of the tumor cells.
The researchers then injected breast cancer cells into mice. After treating the mice with the virus for 20 days, they saw the tumors had largely disappeared, Gholami said.
The dramatic response may be due to the fact that triple-negative breast cancer cells have high levels of a protein called p-MAPK. The herpes virus specifically targets cells with high levels of this protein, the researchers said.
The therapy is just one of many in recent years to explore the use of viruses as a means to target and destroy cancer cells. The herpes virus has been tested in people as a treatment for head and neck cancer, but not for breast cancer, the researchers said.
More research
The study is an «extremely exciting step» in the pursuit of a cancer therapy that uses the herpes virus, said Dr. Stefan Gluck, a medical oncologist at the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
However, the researchers still need to show that this herpes virus is safe to use in patients. After all, the herpes virus is known to cause infection in humans, including infections in the brain. Proving the therapy’s safety will likely be a lengthy process, and will involve testing it on other animals first, such as dogs and primates, Gluck said.
The researchers plan to figure out exactly how the virus works to kill the breast cancer cells, and try to bolster its effect.

(HealthDay News) — New research suggests that the active ingredient in the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra, which was initially developed as a treatment for heart disease, could help children with a rare condition called pulmonary arterial hypertension.
The drug, which is expensive to take regularly and has side effects, is already approved to treat the condition in adults. And some pediatricians use it to treat children, said Dr. Thomas Kulik, senior associate in cardiology at Children’s Hospital Boston. But it has not yet received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for that purpose.
Pulmonary arterial hypertension, a rare condition, causes abnormally high blood pressure in the arteries that lead to the lungs. It can be inherited, accompany some forms of heart disease or occur for no known reason, Kulik said. The disease can limit the ability to exercise and lead to heart failure or even death.
In adults, research has shown that sildenafil — best known by the brand name Viagra — can help improve oxygen delivery and exercise tolerance, but it’s not clear if it improves lifespan, said Kulik, who is also an associate professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School in Boston.
In the new study, researchers gave a placebo or low, medium or high doses of sildenafil to children aged 1 to 17 years for 16 weeks. After that time, they tested 105 of the children.
Previously, study author Dr. Robyn Barst of Columbia University in New York City led research that found that the active ingredient in another erectile drug, Cialis (tadalafil), seemed to effectively treat pulmonary hypertension in adults.
In the new study, researchers found that that children who took the drug and could exercise at the end of the study had more improvement in lung function than those who took the placebo. The researchers, including two from Pfizer, manufacturer of Viagra, also found that the children could exercise more and with greater ease.
Kulik, who is familiar with the findings but was not involved with the study, said the effect was modest at best. Still, he said, «sildenafil probably somewhat increases the ability of pediatric patients to exercise.»
In adults, he said, the drug can cause vision problems, and in kids it can cause a condition called priapism, in which the penis remains erect. Lowering the dose can eliminate the problem, he said.
Overall, a medium dose appears safest and most effective, the researchers said, but still more research is needed. Kulik said it will take some time to determine if it improves lifespan for children with the condition.
The drug can cost several thousand dollars a year, he said.
The study was scheduled to be released Tuesday at the American College of Chest Physicians annual meeting, in Honolulu.
Research presented at meetings is considered preliminary until published in a peer-reviewed medical journal.
Victory Front lawmaker Carlos Kunkel considered that “there will not be any major changes in President Fernández de Kirchner’s cabinet” and suggested that Planning Minister Julio De Vido and Trade Secretary Guillermo Moreno would remain in their posts.
“Any matters related to Cabinet changes will be dealt with carefully, because there’s no specific official that needs to be replaced. There are cases in which a functionary just decides to move to a different position,” he explained.
The Kirchnerite lawmaker acknowledged that “some of them are exhausted and will move to another office,” and although he avoided going into specifics, he considered that both De Vido and Moreno will remain in their posts. “I think they will remain there, that’s my opinion,” he explained.
At the same time, Labour Minister Carlos Tomada assured that the National Government’s future “is something that has to be decided by the President, and it’s up to her to choose.”
“I’m an activist in this project since day one, and I’m going to do whatever the President says,” he concluded.

The Thai authorities have ordered a five-day holiday to allow residents of Bangkok to leave the capital ahead of expected mass flooding.
Bangkok’s bus and train stations and many roads are jammed by thousands of people attempting to flee.
People in several northern districts – some of which are now 90% submerged by rising waters – have been told they should should evacuate immediately.
More than 360 people have died in Thailand’s worst flooding in decades.
The crisis is an early test for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who took office in August and has previously been criticised for failing to take the flood threat seriously enough.
But any lingering sense of complacency has long gone, says the BBC’s Rachel Harvey in Bangkok.
‘Food rationing’
The five-day holiday will run from Thursday through to Monday, in Bangkok and in 20 provinces affected by the flooding.
Bangkok’s Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra issued an evacuation alert for residents of Don Muang, Bang Phlad and Thawi Wattana districts in the north of the capital.
«This is the first time I am using the term ‘evacuation’, the first time I’m really asking you to leave,» Mr Sukhumbhand said.
The city’s Mo Chit bus terminal has already seen huge crowds of people, some of whom had to wait for hours to get a bus to flee the city, say reports.
Britain’s Foreign Office on Wednesday warned against all but essential travel to Bangkok.
Earlier this week, Mrs Yingluck said existing floodwalls and embankments in the north of the city and around the Chao Phraya river, which snakes through the capital, were especially vulnerable.
She cautioned there could be a calamitous combination of flood waters running into the sea from north, with monthly high tides on Friday and Saturday which could overwhelm recently reinforced flood defences.
Flood waters could linger in the capital for between two weeks and a month, she said, but added they would not be as bad as in some provincial areas, which have been under 2-3m of water for up to three months.
In the city of nine million, there were reports that some shops were rationing stocks of staples including rice and eggs amid stockpiling by anxious residents.
Supplies of bottled water were said to be running low in many areas.
Residents were protecting their homes and businesses with sandbags – with some even erecting sealed cement barriers across shop fronts, reported the Associated Press news agency.
At Bangkok’s second airport, Don Muang, people living in an evacuation shelter are now being moved again.
All flights from Don Muang have already been suspended until next Tuesday, and the runway is flooded.
But the government’s flood relief operation centre, which is based on the second floor of the airport, insists it will not relocate.

THE PLANS: Facebook will build a large server farm in northern Sweden near the Arctic Circle, taking advantage of the chilly climate to keep its equipment cool. That’s according to the Swedish newspaper Norrbottens Kuriren.
WHAT SERVER FARMS ARE: Servers inside data centers are the backbone of Internet services such as Facebook, which has an estimated 800 million active users worldwide. The servers store and transmit billions of status updates, links, photos and all the outside apps used by Facebook’s members.
THE DETAILS: City officials in Lulea have said they were in talks with an «American world-leading company» to build the 5-acre data center. They declined to comment Wednesday.

TRIPOLI (Reuters) – Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, who once vowed to die fighting on Libyan soil, now wants to face international justice instead and avoid any chance of meeting the same grisly end as his father, Libyan officials said.
An official of the ruling National Transitional Council (NTC) said on Wednesday that Saif al-Islam, the only one of Muammar Gaddafi’s eight children still on the run, had proposed surrendering to the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has indicted him for war crimes.
Surrender by 39-year-old Saif al-Islam would close another chapter in the four-decade history of Gaddafi family rule, as the United Nations discusses an end to its Libyan mandate that allowed NATO to bomb the country and help rebels to take power.
He was widely seen as Muammar Gaddafi’s favoured son and his heir apparent.
Saif al-Islam wanted to surrender to the Dutch-based ICC with his relative, former intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senussi, said Abdel Majid Mlegta, an official of the NTC which overran the last Muammar Gaddafi stronghold of Sirte a week ago.
«They are proposing a way to hand themselves over to The Hague,» said Mlegta.
The ICC indicted Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam and Senussi for their roles in using force to try to put down the uprising which began in February.
An ICC spokesman said it had no confirmation of any talks about Saif al-Islam’s surrender.
NTC officials have said Saif al-Islam is hiding in Libya’s southern desert after failing to find a safe haven in a neighbouring country like Algeria or Niger, which have offered refuge to the other four Gaddafi children who survived the eight-month civil war.
Any surrender would mark a U-turn by Saif al-Islam, an internationally well-connected philanthropist and liberal reformer who turned abruptly into a soldier ready to die rather than capitulate when rebels rose up against his father.
«We fight here in Libya; we die here in Libya,» he told Reuters Television in an interview earlier this year.
He now appears to prefer the prospect of a Dutch prison cell rather than risk falling into the hands of NTC forces.
NTC fighters seized Muammar Gaddafi last week after they overran his hometown of Sirte. Within hours he was dead, although it remains unclear who killed him, and his rotting corpse was put on public display for four days before being buried in a secret desert grave on Tuesday.
At the United Nations, envoys said the Security Council planned to end U.N. authorisation this week for a no-fly zone and NATO intervention in Libya despite calls from the NTC for it to wait.
The Security Council made the authorisation in March to protect Libyans from the forces that Muammar Gaddafi had deployed to suppress pro-democracy uprisings across the country.
Libya’s people were «looking forward to terminating the no-fly zone over Libya as well as terminating the mandate accorded by Security Council resolution 1973 to protect civilians as soon as possible,» Libyan Deputy U.N. Ambassador Ibrahim Dabbashi told the 15-nation council on Wednesday.
«In accordance with the initial assessments, the date of October 31 is a logical date to terminate this mandate,» he said.
But he said the NTC had not yet made an official decision on whether to request termination of the U.N. mandate, which authorised members of NATO and other U.N. member states to take «all necessary measures» to protect Libyan civilians.
NATO bombing prevented Muammar Gaddafi’s forces from taking the rebel stronghold of Benghazi and allowed often disorganised rebel units to eventually control the whole county.
Dabbashi said the government needed more time to assess the security situation in Libya and its ability to monitor its borders.
Western diplomats said issues the NTC had suggested it would like NATO to help with, including border security, fell outside the U.N. mandate to protect civilians and enforce a no-fly zone.
«The job was to protect civilians and from NATO’s point of view, that mission has been accomplished,» a diplomat told Reuters on condition of anonymity. «There’s no point in delaying termination of the mandate.»

BA City Chief of Staff, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, came on stage today to reply positively to President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s call for City cooperation in the cleansing of the Riachuelo river’s basin during a rally yesterday.
Thus, Rodríguez Larreta said that the government led by business tycoon Mauricio Macri “is willing to cooperate and work together with the national government to, the BA province administration as well with all Greater Buenos Aires districs in order to solve this matter as well many others.”
Anyway, the City official seemed a bit confused over the statement made by the President, «I don’t why she [Fernández de Kirchner] said such a thing since the City government is currently cooperating with the cleansing of the La Matanza Riachuelo river basin.»
Rodríguez Larreta also remarked that “concrete measures and works are being conducted for the first time ever in order to clean the Riachuelo’s basin. Our priority right now is to relocate people living by the riverside as they cannot live in such bad conditions.”
Furthermore, Rodríguez Larreta emphasized that «the Kirchnerism has already been eight years in power and I don’t really see any major advancement in this topic», and added, «so it would be better to have the natinal government to sit down to debate and look for solutions instead of discussing it through the media.”

New Jersey will host a round of the Formula One world championship from 2013 on the banks of the Hudson River, the state governor Chris Christie confirmed.
Christie made the announcement, along with the mayors of New Jersey towns West New York and Weehawken, by the river where the street-circuit race will be held, across from Manhattan.
«It is great to be able to say that in June, 2013, Formula One will be here, for three days, for a 3.2 mile road race, right here at Port Imperial, » Christie told a news conference.
«You can expect upwards of a 100,000 people to attend each race over the three days. People from all over the world will be coming to New Jersey to see this race on this unique and exciting course.
«I can assure Formula One that this is one of the wisest decisions you have ever made, to come and hold this event in New Jersey».
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has yet to confirm the new race has been approved but has long supported the idea of holding a race against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.
Promotors have compared the waterside, road-race aspect of the New Jersey race to that of the famed Monaco Grand Prix.
Christie said the new race would have a significant economic upside for his state.
«In terms of the economic impact it is going to be significant, think about bringing well over 100,000 people into this area to frequent the shops, the restaurants and the hotels, to be staying here for over three days in a celebratory mood watching one of the world’s great road races,» he said.
The U.S. has not hosted a Formula One race since Indianapolis in 2007 but is scheduled to stage a Grand Prix at Austin, Texas from next year.
There has been no indication that the New Jersey race, likely to be paired with the Canadian Grand Prix, also in June, would threaten the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
The New Jersey event will be formally named the Grand Prix of America and will be held on a street course around Port Imperial.
«I have no doubt this will be one of the great marquee racing events in history,» said Howard ‘Humpy’ Wheeler, one of the founders of NASCAR, and a supporter of the F1 event.
Businessman Leo Hindery, one of the organizers of the race, said that no public subsidies would be needed or requested for the race and added that a ten year contract had been agreed.
F1 had previously held races in the state of New York at Watkins Glen in Schuyler County, about 250 miles from New York City.
Watkins Glen International held the United States Grand Prix from 1961 to 1980 while F1 races have also been held at Long Beach in California, Las Vegas, Detroit, Dallas, Phoenix and Indianapolis.

The Central Bank (BCRA in Spanish) issued a special decree so that all export revenues generated by both mining and energy sectors remain in Argentina to be negotiated at the local foreign exchange market.
The measure was ratified by the national government through decree 1,722/2011 published today in the Official Gazette, and aims to flood the local markets with fresh dollars in an attempt to control both late high demand of the US currency, and growing inflation.
Likewise the decree leaves without effect decree number 753 signed in 2004 by former President Néstor Kirchner authorizing mining and oil and gas companies to take their export revenues overseas, and shadowing decree 2,581 signed in 1964 by former President Arturo Illia (Radical Party) ordering energy companies to place all export revenues within the local market.
The decree, signed by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, Chief of Staff Aníbal Fernández, and Economy Minister Amado Boudou, establishes that “all foreign currency revenues obtained from exports made by mining and oil and gas companies must be negotiated within the local foreign exchange market.”
Furthermore, the decree explains that it seeks to achieve an equal treatment for all industries within the country. Thus, mining and energy companies will receive same treatment as the agricultural sector in terms of being force to leave all export revenues within the country.
Sources have estimated the measure will represent a boost of between 3 and 4 billion dollars.

CAIRO — An Egyptian court sentenced two police officers to seven years in prison on Wednesday for the beating death of a 28-year-old man whose killing helped set off the Egyptian revolution.
The sentence, handed down in an Alexandria court, angered both sides. The family of the victim, Khaled Said, and its supporters called it far too lenient. And news reports said that relatives of the two officers, Mahmoud Salah and Awad Ismaeil, caused havoc in the courtroom and tried to attack the prosecutors. The two men had been convicted of manslaughter.
The judge said that Mr. Said’s treatment had been “cruel,” but opponents of the sentence said it was too mild to deter similar episodes or to lead to much-needed changes in the Interior Ministry.
“Police officers are still assured that if they practice torture, the lower-ranking policemen will be presented as scapegoats, and they will escape unharmed,” said Gamal Eid, a human rights lawyer. He noted, however, that any prison sentence for police brutality in Egypt was rare.
About 40 protesters marched through downtown Cairo in the early evening, shouting chants against the ruling military council, which is increasingly seen as thwarting democratic changes and trying to preserve vestiges of the old government. At least one demonstrator noted that the sentence in the Said case was the same as some of the punishments handed down by military courts against peaceful protesters.
“We’ve been feeling for a long time that our revolution is being hijacked, and now that the verdict in Khaled Said’s case confirmed our fears, this will not pass easily,” said Amal el-Mohandes, one of the protesters.
Mr. Said’s relatives could not be reached for comment, but news reports here quoted them as being “shocked” by the verdict.
Mr. Said died after he was hauled out of an Internet cafe in Alexandria in June 2010, with witnesses saying the police beat him after dragging him onto a busy street.
Yet the initial autopsy and official explanation concluded that Mr. Said had died of suffocation as he tried to swallow a stash of hashish that he had been carrying. But gruesome pictures of his battered face raised doubts about that explanation and suggested that he had been severely beaten.
Prosecutors did not pursue the case aggressively at first, leading to the creation of a Facebook page titled “We Are All Khalid Said.” It displayed images of Mr. Said’s face and encouraged people to demonstrate against the authorities.
The page, which now has more than 1.5 million followers, urged supporters to attend the antigovernment rallies on Jan. 25 that started the revolution. The crowds swelled in numerous cities and succeeded in driving President Hosni Mubarak from office 18 days later.
During the revolution, Mr. Said’s name was woven into the antigovernment chants. A second autopsy report issued by an independent committee after the revolution said that Mr. Said had died from a severe beating and that the hashish had been forced down his throat after he died.
On the anniversary of his death, silent vigils were organized across Egypt demanding justice for Mr. Said, and images of his face were sprayed on walls.
His supporters said they would continue to pursue the case. “We have the right to be angry,” Wael Ghonim, the Google executive who helped create the Facebook page anonymously and later emerged as one of the leading young voices of the uprising, said Wednesday in a Twitter message. “But we are in a battle, and the rights of Khalid and all Egyptians like him will be returned.”

Former navy official Alfredo Astiz and oppressor “Tigre” Acosta were sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday night after being found guilty of kidnapping, torture and the forced disappearances of many detainees in the former Navy School of Mechanics (ESMA) during the last dictatorship.
As the sentence was read in the courtroom the crowd waiting outside celebrated and cheered, which almost caused it to be suspended.
Astiz, who acted under the false identity of Gustavo Niño, infiltrated the works of the mothers of the Plaza de Mayo in 1977 and “marked” his victims, who were later tortured at the ESMA and thrown alive into the sea.
Among them were the founder of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo Azucena Villaflor and the two French nuns Leónie Duquet and Alice Domon.
Other oppressors such as Antonio Pernías, Oscar Montes and Raúl Scheller were also sentenced to life in prison.
A long line of people was seen outside the courtroom since early in the afternoon, as many of them wanted to hear the reading live.
Relatives of the accused were seen standing in line next to family members of those who had disappeared.
The Federal Courthouse 5 had called the hearing for 6 pm.
Early on Wednesday morning, three of the accused were given the chance to provide the court with their last statements before the reading.
