CFK raises ANSeS funding for pension loans

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced that ANSeS controlled funding would be raised for pensioner loans and that interest tax charged by private loan companies to pensioners would be limited, during a ceremony held at the inauguration of a new social security office in Lomas de Zamora today.

“I wanted to announce here at this event, the inauguration of this ANSeS office, that I have come to take responsibility of a problem that currently affects 2 million people. It has to do with the rules on discounts for pensioners, who have to pay user taxes,” stated the head of state over national television.

According to the head of state, there are 589 agencies entitled to give out loans, including cooperatives, associations and unions. Between January and June, 95% of what was lent, only 12% was given to these agencies. The total amount of credit granted comes to a total of $10,910 million pesos.

When she announced the fact that “certain agencies take advantage” of pensioners, Fernández de Kirchner also assured that they charged up to 122% interest, while the average taxation rate elsewhere is at 70%.

“The taxation rate for loans given by the ANSeS can only be 5% higher than what the National Bank charges for the same loan,” stated the President, also sustaining that the Total Financial Cost (CFT) should include the price of the social installment.

“Let’s not commit socialism with everyone else’s money, because in Argentina there are many people who accept this kind of treatment. We believe in giving loans, not the overcharging and abuse of the system,” underlined the head of state.

Furthermore, Fernández de Kirchner’s speech took an emotional this afternoon, when she paid homage to the late Iván Heyn, who committed suicide yesterday.

The President spoke of the late foreign trade undersecretary, labelling him a “brilliant economist and tireless activist,” using him as an example for the young people of today.

Heyn yesterday committed suicide in his hotel room in Uruguay, where he was participating in the Mercosur Summit.

The head of state furthered that without the presence of economist, the Government would keep “strong, standing and without rushing.”

“We must keep ourselves strong and standing, without allowing ourselves to faint, without rushing ourselves. We defend the interests of the 40 million Argentines, and that’s where I will remain a soldier. Nobody will move us from that role,” expressed the President.

The ceremony began this morning in Lomas de Zamora, where ANSeS executive director Diego Bossio, Lomas de Zamora mayor Martín Isurralde, Cabinet Chief Juan Manuel Abal Medina, and Buenos Aires Province Governor Daniel Scioli were all present.

Fernández de Kirchner will later attend handing over of badges and delegations to the new heads of the Security Forces in the White Salon at the Government House.

CFK takes office as temporary head of Mercosur

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner took office as the temporary head of the Mercosur bloc and highlighted that “we must have a vision beyond the commercial one, we have to rely on the region to know that we have to protect each other.”

The Head of State reminded during the Mercosur Summit that “it’s the tenth anniversary of the day in which more than 35 Argentines died” in Argentina, referring to the violent clash of the police and protesters on December 19-20 of 2001.

Fernández de Kirchner also assured that the Malvinas Islands sovereignty case “is a global one” and once more called the United Kingdom for “dialogue.”

“I want to thank the immense solidarity for Malvinas. This support is not only for Argentina, but in self-defence because they are taking away the mineral and oil resources and when they’ll need more they are going to look for them anywhere,” she continued.

In her speech, the president added that the UK “does not respect any of the resolution” of the international organizations.

Fernández de Kirchner was received by Mujica early Tuesday at the entrance to the Mercosur building, where Venezuela President Hugo Chávez, Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Dilma Rousseff (Brazil), and Fernando Lugo (Paraguay) were present.

The President arrived shortly after 1 pm after leaving from the military sector of the Aeroparque Metropolitan airport aboard a Tanto 01 plane, alongside Industry Minister, Débora Giorgi and the future ambassador to Venezuela, Carlos Cheppi.

Meanwhile Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman and Economy Minister Hernán Lorenzino were already in Uruguay attending the summit.

‘CFK’s relationship with workers won’t break’

Peronist lawmaker Jorge Landau predicted that “a large majority of unionists will side with the Government,” after CGT umbrella union boss Hugo Moyano stepped down as the Peronist party provincial branch leader.

“Despite Moyano’s resignation, the relationship between the workers and Cristina Kirchner won’t break. The worker’s movement is the backbone of Peronism, not its head, because the head is always political, and Cristina Kirchner is the head of Peronism,» he stated.

CFK urges not to stigmatize unregistered workers

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner called for “legalizing unregistered workers” and urged “everyone’s solidarity” to achieve that goal and added that «they shouldn’t be stigmatized nor persecuted.»

We must try to register all workers, because who wouldn’t like to have a lovely store with employees?” the Head of State said while heading a rally in the Government House.

“Let us be supportive, generous and allow unregistered workers to become registered, without stigmatizing or persecuting them,” she concluded.

CFK calls for more high-ranking female officials in Armed Forces

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner resumed her activities on Monday and while attending a ceremony at the Military Academy, she said she would begin advocating for an increase in high-ranking female officials in the Armed Forces.

She also suggested the creation a new plan for graduates which would take them on a year-long tour of the country.

During her speech, Fernández de Kirchner praised that neither the Infantry nor the Cavalry banned women from joining their ranks, and hoped that “maybe someday a female general will be taking part of these forces.”

“I find it strange that no woman has become general yet. I hope that before my term is over we get to see a female general, brigadier or admiral,” she stated.

She then assured that “it is necessary for women to have a more active participation” in the configuration of the Armed Forces.

“It is a paradox that female citizens were not allowed into certain aspects of the military due to their gender, especially when the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces is a woman. Fortunately we have left all that behind,” she said.

The President then announced a new plan aimed at graduates from all three forces so that they can “tour the entire country for an entire year,” since “you cannot defend what you don’t know.”

“This isn’t a road trip, but a plan to help them get to know the country in depth, because you cannot defend what you don’t know, what you don’t understand or love,” she indicated.

She assured that “one of the greatest problems we’ve had throughout our history is that we haven’t been able to know each other well.”

“Living in the centre of the country is very different from living in the Chaco region or the Puna grassland. We have to get to know our people, our regions, and our problems. This is how we will have better soldiers to defend our nation,” she concluded.

The President attended the joint graduation ceremony of the Armed Forces officials at the Military School located in El Palomar, and took the oath to 328 graduates.

She was joined by Defence Minister Arturo Puricelli, the Head of the Joint Chiefs, Jorge Chevalier and the heads of the Armed Forces, Luis Pozzi (Army), Jorge Godoy (Navy) and Normando Costantino (Air Force.)

De Mendiguren asks CFK to improve income distribution

The head of the Argentine Industrial Argentina (UIA in Spanish), José de Mendiguren, referred to the ongoing discussion between businessmen and workers over the profit share bill project and said that “the President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner never filed the project or said no to the initiative.”
Likewise the lobbyst remarked that “All she (Fernández de Kirchner) said is that it must be debated between our sectors (businessmen and workers).”

On radio conversations, Mendiguren evaluated “I don’t think for any reason the President, knowing her and her personal history, will be in favour of the business sector and against the workers. I just see her trying to bring some order the house”, and then aimed his canons to the national government and remarked, “What concerns us is the income distribution. Sharing company profits is just another tool, but if the income distribution improves then we (businessmen) will have more market to land on. But if salaries are no good, then we can’t sell anything.”
In that sense, de Mendiguren wondered: “Where is the greatest delay in terms of income distribution in Argentina? Is that within the formal sector? No, it’s not. It is all in the informal sectors. If that’s the biggest propblem, let’s work all together –State, workers and businessmen– to put an end to unregistered work.”
To end, the lobbyst remarked: “The companies that are legal have to deal with a totally unfair competition coming from the unregistered sector in which employers only register a quarter of what they pay to workers. I don’t see the CGT Labour Confederation worried about that.”

‘Who will swear in CFK hasn’t been defined yet,’ Rojkes de Alperovich

Incoming Upper House’s provisional president, Beatriz Rojkes de Alperovich, assured “it hasn’t been defined” whether she will be the person in charge of swearing in President Fernández de Kirchner in her inauguration ceremony on December 10th.

Regarding Fernández de Kirchner, Rojkes said she hasn’t been informed whether she will be the one in charge of swearing the Head of State and that she isn’t bothered bt the mystery surrounding the ceremony itself.

“The person leading has the right to decide what is the best thing to do. Press leaks and rumours tend to complicate things,” Rojkes de Alperovich said and stressed that she “would be delighted” to do the swearing in duties, in case Vice-president Julio Cobos, who should be in charge, per the National Constitution, decides not to attend the ceremony.

“It would be a great honour, particularly for the gratitude I feel towards the President for being able to occupy the post she gave me.”

«No dicen cuánto cobra Recalde, queremos saber cuánto cobra Recalde», replicó.

1. Sergio Bello, DNI 18.108.584.

2. Julio César Benítez, DNI 18.765.022

3. José Luis Blanco, DNI 13.862.782

CFK’s message to Moyano: ‘I will support every worker, domestic labour’

De Mendiguren backs CFK’s sayings over revenue share bill

Argentine Industrial Union head José Ignacio de Mendiguren, backed yesterday’s speech of President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner during the UIA’s annual conference saying that a revenue share bill is not something that should be discussed in Congress but rather between unions and businessmen.

Thus, Mendiguren ratified his intention of not having the revenue share bill project debated at the Lower House, and justified it saying that “situations are not the same for every industrial sector in the country. And a possible share of revenues is something that must be discussed at work, it’s not something that you can turn into law. ”

Likewise, the lobbyst emphasized that contrary to Europe “Argentina is a country in which the economy is handled and managed by the Executive power and not the other way around, and the President demonstrates it on every speech she gives.”

Furthermore, Mendiguren asked for “a noticeable increase of investment in order to tackle inflation.”

CFK defines her next term as a phase of ‘fine tuning’

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner disclosed today, the core economics of her new government. The new phase of her presidency begins when she will be sworn in on December 10.The head of state defined the new era as a phase of “fine tuning,” based upon strong investments and innovative production.

The President recognized businessmen that reinvest their company revenues in the country and that weigh out their balance of trade. The topic of inflation and redistribution of subsidies were also mentioned during the speech.

“I would like to refer to how we are to continue,” said the head of state at the beginning of a speech, largely dedicated to economics; referring to the period 2011-2015.

Fernández de Kirchner was heading today the closing ceremony of the 17th Industrial Conference, held by the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) in Puerto Madero and conducted a speech for almost an hour, before businessmen, government members and unionists.

“I would define it as a period of development, as De Mendiguren stated, however I would like to go a little further than that, and label it a period of fine tuning. Until now we have made reference to the small, medium and large businesses; but now we have to centralize each and every sector with regard to competitiveness in each company, which will only be sustainable through adopting policies of inclusion,” the President furthered.

The head of state recommended that companies not look for competitiveness in salaries or subsidies and stated that “what we will need to measure in this world is that each company has a standard practicality.”

The President reviewed the idea of the Social Pact and advocated for a better agreement between the Government, executives and unions. “There is need to innovate the behaviour of each sector, businessmen, workers and the State, as a third part in the trilogy, which has been one of the keys in the model of growth.

The head of state was outright in underlining the strength in learning from past costly economic mistakes, stating, “revenues do also have to do with the economy and are fundamental for the financial sector. The crisis pays for those who have less, and that is how Argentina remained in 2001, with its face against the wall.”

The ceremony was taking place this afternoon at the Pacific Salon in the Hilton Hotel, located in the city neighbourhood of Puerto Madero, where the President was accompanied by UIA head, José Ignacio de Mendiguren, and the general secretary of the CGT labour confederation, Hugo Moyano, amongst other businessmen.

‘Some things distorted need to be corrected,’ CFK says

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner made a call to “keep those things that worked out during her administration,” and even though she denied making any errors, she admitted “there are some things that have been distorted and need to be corrected.”

She later talked about the current economic problems affecting Europe and the United States, and said she hopes “God will show them the light, so they can find a quick solution to their crises.”

“We don’t live in Disneyworld, but fortunately our situation is far from what we can see is happening in other countries. I don’t mean as a way to find solace, but simply to appreciate what we have,” she said.

Earlier in her speech, the President called on business leaders and union heads “to be responsible when it came to special interests, considering the world we’re living in.”

She also assured she would “correct distortions” which would help guarantee the growth of domestic market.

“These ideas live in most Argentines, among the thousands of young people who got involved in politics once again. I feel proud of the young people that got involved in politics again with joy, to build and celebrate and that they feel the nation like their true home and see its authorities not like enemies, but like the people who protect them,” the President added.
