Business man Claudio Cirigliano, who had the concession of the TBA train company at the time of the Once railway tragedy, showed up in court on Monday to say he was “willing to cooperate with the investigation.”
Judicial sources informed that Cirigliano showed up in court along with his lawyer Juan José Sforza, Cometrans vicepresident Oscar Gariboglio, and the company’s directors Alejandro Lopardo, José Portas and Marcelo Calderón.
Sforza is the same lawyer that defended Cirigliano during an investigation that sought to prove whether he had provided former Transportation Secretary Ricardo Jaime with flights to Brazil, Uruguay and Córdoba.
In the Jaime case, Cirigliano was not indicted because the case against him expired, but in the Once tragedy case, even though he hasn’t been indicted, he is not allowed to leave the country.
The only suspect in the case so far is the engine driver, Antonio Córdoba, who during an interrogation he assured that the train’s break system failed, which caused it to hit the track’s buffers.
A month ago, a train from the Sarmiento line failed to break as it entered the Once railway station, leaving 51 people dead and more than 700 injured.
