Federal Police are now no longer to patrol the city´s subway stations.
The City’s Security Minister Guillermo Montenegro criticized the national government’s decision of ordering the withdrawal of Federal Police officers from city’s Subway stations. “It was a very bad decision,” he stressed.
The Federal Police began today the first stage of withdrawing officers from the city’s subway stations, following the recent announcement of their removal from various sectors.
After a cabinet meeting held earlier, Montenegro told reporters the initiative “does not offend the opposition but all the city’s neighbors.”
He also stated that around 600 officers are needed for a subway system which has over 70 stations and blasted the lack of a security plan before the service is transferred to the city government scope. “They haven’t done a good job,” Montenegro concluded.
The measure announced by the Security Minister Nilda Garré includes a withdrawal scheme which will be carried out in two stages, to remove 250 officers in total.
