Businessmen in the passenger transport sector admitted today they were “worried” about the decision made by the Government to remove subsidies from toll stations along national route ways for private transport companies, and therefore asked for the decision to be ‘reconsidered.’
According to the businessmen, “the survival of a sector which carries 90 percent of the demand for public passenger transport” is at stake.
In a communiqué put together by three different associations pertaining to the sector (CEAP, AAETA and CELADI), the businessmen questioned the Transport Secretary Juan Pablo Schiavi, who yesterday stated that the removal of subsidies at toll stations would not cause extra cost to these companies.
