Border Guards raided this morning the Cablevisión centre in Barracas -owned by the Clarín Group- following a judicial order handed out for an investigation looking into the “grave irregularities” in the administration of the cable company.
A deployment of Border Guards raided the cable company offices along Hornos street at 690 in the Buenos Aires city neighbourhood of Barracas, looking for documents that contain information crucial to their investigation, according to sources consulted by the press.
Astonished employees gathered outside as police ordered the building to be emptied. The judiciary nominated Enrique Anzoise, an accountant from Mendoza Province, to audit the company. Anzoise was assaulted by a group of angry Cabevisión workers when he exited the building
Meanwhile, Ricardo Mastronardi, Anzoise’s laywer, assured Cablevisión’s authorities prevented the execution of the measure and stressed that the decision “is firm and must be carried out.”
Cablevisión aimed against the Government, and accused Grupo Vila-Manzano of having close ties to President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s administration.
The raid is part of a judicial response to a formal complaint filed by Grupo Vila-Manzano that accused the Cablevisión group of violating the fair competition law.
A statement issued by Cablevisión accused Grupo Vila-Manzano of being a close government ally. It also remarked the raid was politically motivated by a quarrel between Clarín and the current administration.
