Subway control transfer progresses after meeting

Planning Minister Julio De Vido and City Mayor Mauricio Macri, carried out a meeting on Friday to analyse the next steps, following the administration transfer of the city’s Subway and premetro system. Earlier this week the National Government handed over certain responsibilities regarding the subway system to Buenos Aires City Government.

During the meeting, the signing of an agreement was arranged to take place next week. The agreement includes a series of details for a “coordinated transfer”. Both governments disclosed that the first meeting was a “positive” one.

The meeting was taking place in the Scalabrini Ortiz Room, at the Economy Ministry, where Transport Secretary, Juan Pablo Schiavi, City Treasury minister, Néstor Grindetti, Urban Development minister, Daniel Chain and the head of Buenos Aires Subways, Juan Pablo Piccardo were all present.

“We came here with many expectations, as a path of dialogue is being opened which we have always put forward, thinking of city residents and of having a better subway service,” Grindetti stated as he entered the Economy Ministry.
