Ramón Mestre elected mayor of Cordoba City

Senator Ramón Mestre was elected today as the new mayor of Cordoba City with 35,6 % of valid votes as 80% were counted in Cordoba’s province. Peronist dissident Olga Riutort is the first runner up with 27,6% of the ballots.

Third place is credited to Héctor `pichi` Campana with 21,2 %,of the votes. Mestre is to replace current mayor Daniel Giacomino begging on December.

From the balcony of the of the “Radical House”, downtown Cordoba City, Mestre celbrated his victory. “ We have worked for seven years, this is exceeds the political project of the Civic Radical Union.”

He also gave a glimpse of how his government should be. “ As we said during campaign, our plan is simply to run well the municipality, restore basic services and carry out a plan of construction for this city that founds itself in complicated spot,” Mestre stated.

Mestre was accompanied by presidential contender Ricardo Alfonsin.
