Chiche Duhalde warns CFK ‘could seek re-reelection’ in 2015

Frente Popular Senator Hilda “Chiche” Duhalde warned that if President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is “reelected by a landslide” next October, this could encourage her to seek a re-reelection in 2015.

The senator, who is looking to renew her seat in the Upper House for six more years, joined other opposition officials who have been warned about the Kirchnerites’ potential decision to reform the Constitution.

“If we’re not careful at the time of casting our ballots, this could be very dangerous, because they are going to go for a re-reelection and many other things that we don’t work,” she said after being asked about what to expect if the President is reelected by percentage of votes similar to the one she obtained in the primaries.

Gubernatorial candidates for the Buenos Aires province Francisco de Narváez (UDESO) and Margarita Stolbizer (FAP) had recently warned about this while campaigning. According to them, Fernández de Kirchner could be encouraged to seek re-reelection, just like Tucumán’s governor José Alperovich did in his province last week.

Alperovich’s re-reelection was possible thanks to a previous reform of the provincial Constitution.
