The Banking Association General Secretary Sergio Palazzo today ratified a 24-hour strike to be staged next week due to salary demands.
According to the union leader, “regarding our activity the salary agreement expired in December and up until today there hasn´t been any proposal from the business sector.”
He also warned that between Wednesday and Thursday this week, banking workers “will hold assemblies in the last two hours of the working day which will probably cause delays and interruptions in the public service.”
In statements to several radios, Palazzo rejected the possibility of unifying wage talks in every sector as each activity has different needs.
According to Palazzo´s point of view, “the government should solve inflation instead of putting limits to negotiations.”
Banking workers are demanding a 30 percent wage hike.
