Ex secretary Alsogaray sentenced to three years and half

A Buenos Aires City court has sentenced María Julia Alsogaray, ex secretary of environment during the government of Carlos Menem, to three years and a half in prison, also barring her from the public administration and ruling a fine of 50,000 pesos.
Judges José Martínez Sobrino, Julio Panelo and María del Carmen Roqueta of the 6th Oral Criminal Tribunal of the City of Buenos Aires today condemned the former official as well as Santiago Bignoli and Enrique Kaplan who will face a sentence of three years and three months instead. The three of them have been barred from the public administration and will have to pay the economic sanction of 50,000 pesos.
The court investigated irregularities in repair works ordered at the Environment Office when it was headed by then secretary María Julia Alsogaray.
In 2014, the ex official was also found responsible of public defrauding during the privatization of the then state-run company Entel.
