The investigation on the death of Prosecutor Alberto Nisman continues today when the relatives of the deceased and employees of the AMIA special unit that Nisman headed are expected to give testimony to State Prosecutor Viviana Fein. His cellphones will undergo forensic analysis.
Prosecutor Fein and Judge Fabiana Palmaghini heard testimony from Nisman’s mother, 73-year-old Sara Garfunkel, and later today will speak to his sister, Sandra.
Ms. Garfunkel was one of the first to arrive at the AMIA prosecutor’s apartment on Sunday to find the body of his son on the bathroom floor. “I know nothing yet, I’m in the dark,” she said to Clarín newspaper when asked about the suicide theory on Nisman’s death.
The names of Nisman’s collegues at the AMIA special unit who will give testimony today have not been released. The prosecutor’s secretary was the one who told Nisman’s bodyguard to call his mother on Sunday.
Only two -out of ten- of Nisman’s bodyguards have not testified, since they are on vacations, Fein explained. “I heard testimony from those who intervened on Saturday and Sunday,” she said.
The investigation will focus today on the forensic analysis on Nisman’s phonecalls, text messages in the days prior to his death. Experts will also keep working on the security footages from the cameras at the Le Parc tower.
Two raids
Last night Judge Palmaghini ordered two raids on two different apartments, one in Buenos Aires City and one in Olivos locality, looking for a journalist dubbed ‘Toti’ who, according to Prosecutor Fein received “an envelop” from Nisman on Saturday.
The home of Nisman’s neighbour on the 13th floor of the Le Parc tower was also raided yesterday. The two apartments were linked by a small corridor where investigators found a fingerprint and a footprint yesterday.
