Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich said that in accordance with the country’s electoral law, “traditional ballots” will be used “in the coming elections, both the PASO primary and the general election.”
Buenos Aires City mayor has announced that the electronic voting system will be implemented in the City’s elections, however, Capitanich said that the current electoral system in Argentina “works transparently and efficiently, as electoral authorities have acknowledged” and rejected any changes in the voting system for this year’s general election.
He went on to say that “ballots are used in many places around the world. The most advanced and industrialized countries do not necessarily use the electronic vote in a systematic or universal way.”
“(The electronic vote) has its pros and cons, virtues and defects, it can be used or not,” the chief of ministers said.
