‘Blue’ dollar falls 7 cents to 13.70 pesos

The informal rate of the US currency, the so called «blue» dollar, fell seven cents to 13.70 pesos today in Buenos Aires City underground foreign exchange houses.

The US dollar closed unchanged at 8.605 pesos in the City’s banks and foreign exchange offices. A strong buying stance from the Central Bank, which took advantage of higher grain sales to buy US$40 million, helped keep the peso steady.

On the first week of the year the dollar has climbed three cents.

The gap between the official and illegal rate shrunk to 59%.

Meanwhile, the blue-chip swap rate hiked five cents to 12.07 pesos, while the stock exchange rate was up by one cent at 12.46 pesos in a slow trading day on the markets.
