‘Blue’ dollar falls to 13.75 pesos; official rate up

The informal rate of the US currency, the so called «blue» dollar, fell five cents to 13.75 pesos in Buenos Aires City underground foreign exchange houses. The government is expected to tighten controls on the parallel market this week, which could lead to slim drops in the price of the informal dollar.

The blue-chip swap rate saw big losses, plunging 26 cents to 11.98 pesos. The stock exchange dollar climbed in the opposite direction, trading 16 cents up at 12.37 pesos.

The US dollar closed one cent up, selling at 8.58 peso in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices after climbing half a cent on Friday.
