Following a series of remarks by opposition union leaders and politicians warning about the risk of major social outbreak in December, cabinet chief Jorge Capitanich accused them of “actively seeking a coup” and said they are committing a “public offence” for which they should be judged.
“I think the Argentine people should harshly criticize those who announce social chaos because what they are doing is to actively seek a coup,” the chief of ministers stated in his daily press briefing at Government House.
“If they are announcing it, it means they are actively acting on it, which means they are committing a public offence and they should be tried,” Capitanich said.
The kirchnerite official accused critics of “trying to generate fear” among Argentineans. “When they say it is going to happen in December they actually want it to happen now, they aim at creating chaos,” Capitanich stated.
