Gov’t aims for 0.5% growth by year end

Economy minister Axel Kicillof revealed that the government was hopeful of recording a slight growth in the economy by the end of 2014, after a recession-hit year so far.

The official spoke out while presenting the 2015 Budget alongside Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich in front of the Lower House Budget Committee. He clarified that the figure was being released «with care», predicting that Argentina would finish 2014 with a GDP growth rate of 0.5 percent.

With regards to inflation, Kicillof assured that the figure would stand at 21.3 percent by the end of 2014 and that by March of next year, that rate would fall to 15.6 percent. This year’s Budget contained an inflation forecast of 9.9 percent, alongside a predicted growth rate of 6.2% for the current period.
