‘Blue’ dollar breaks new record at 14.45 pesos; formal rate steady at 8.42

The informal dollar rate advanced 10 cents to 14.45 pesos in underground exchange houses in Buenos Aires City, hitting a new record mark, pushed by especulation and hikes in the blue-chip swap and stock exchange rates.
The blue-chip swap rate jumped to 13.28 pesos today, while the stock exchange rate advanced to 13.54 pesos.
Meanwhile, the US dollar closed steady at 8.42 pesos in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices, in a quiet market with the Central Bank following operators’ every move.
The gap between the official rate and the “blue” dollar is at 72%.
