Cuban president Raúl Castro’s daughter, Mariela Castro, talked to the media to deny the rumours of her death that began after Ouagadougou’s airport informed that she was one of the passengers of the Air Algerie flight that crashed today after taking off in Burkina Faso.
“I’m alive and kicking. Happy and healthy,” she said, speaking from La Habana. “I don’t understand why they would say such a thing,” she added in reference to Burkina Faso’s statement.
The airport authorities had published on their Facebook page that Castro was “among the passengers of the AH5017 flight, along two French European officials”.
