Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich referred to opposition lawmaker Graciela Ocaña’s accusations of discretionary spending in “Fútbol para todos” programme. “I find it hard to see the existence of a possible crime,” he said and bashed opposition critics for “never going after media conglomerates”.
In his daily press briefing in Government House, Capitanich praised “Fútbol para todos” programme and said the government “has nothing to hide” if lawmaker Graciela Ocaña were to take her accusations to Court, as it is expected.
“I find it hard to see the existence of a crime. We have nothing to hide, in fact we have a lot to say,” he said and stressed that the programme’s advertising budgets are “clear and transparent”.
Capitanich also bashed those who criticise the programme that allows Argentineans «to watch soccer matches for free, broadcasted in open television». He pointed out that the «Fútbol para todos» is also “a mean of public policy dissemination”.
Cabinet Chief also addressed economic policies and said the government is working for macroeconomic stability. He explained that the recent increase in welfare benefits, salary negotiations agreements and bonuses are expected to boost consumption in June.
He said Economy indicators forecast “a multiplier effect in economic growth”.
