Governor of the Chubut province Martín Buzzi has praised yesterday’s announcement by YPF saying the finding of shale oil and gas in the San Jorge basin “broadens a lot the country’s horizon of oil and gas reserves.”
In statements to media today, Buzzi compared the “El Trébol” well discovery in the Chubut province with the Vaca Muerta giant field in the province of Neuquén, a 7.4-million-acre formation thought to be one of the world’s most promising shale areas.
“This discovery puts the San Jorge Gulf in value and strategically positions Argentina with a high level of (energy) reserves in the world,” the governor said adding the South American country is “one of the countries with the greatest horizon of shale oil and gas.”
“This finding makes nothing else but to confirm it.”
