Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich urged opposition leaders to focus on governing their respective districts rather than “rushing into campaigning” for 2015 elections. He said the one to succeed President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in power should “continue with public policies that promote social inclusion and equity, and develop Argentina’s potential”.
Asked about the ongoing alliance-building process within the peronist Justicialist Party (PJ), the Kirchnerite official urged opposition leaders “who have government responsibilities” to focus on them and said they will have time to campaign during next year’s PASO primary elections, which he praised as a source of predictability in the country’s political system. “Many are rushing into taking political stances and campaigning,” he said.
Capitanich said the one to succeed President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will have “a big challenge ahead: to protect and take care of what has been accomplished so far and to create the necessary condition for keeping an inclusive Argentina”.
In his daily press briefing, Cabinet Chief also addressed economic issues. He praised an agreement reached with motorbike sector for a 15 percent price decrease and financing facilities for consumers and he also referred to YPF shale oil and gas discovery in Chubut province, describing it as “promising”.
Capitanich also confirmed a 9 percent increase in pre-paid medical cover fees -starting in June- a claim for which clinics and hospital went on a national strike yesterday.
