Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich today joined the crime debate which is overflowing the media and criticized “the excess of proposals and affirmations” regarding the insecurity matter from opposition leaders. “The approval of security laws must not be part of a demagogic strategy,” he said.
In his daily press conference, he added “many times initiatives without a minimum consistency to become a legal norm with good results are promoted” and recalled eight laws which were approved in the last years to tighten sentences, some of which caused “problematic results.”
He rejected an article published this morning by a newspaper, which indicated the government “had frozen more than 130 security bills” and praised Buenos Aires Governor Daniel Scioli’s decision who decreed the province’s security emergency after analyzing its situation.
