Massa, De la Sota hold summit in Córdoba

The leader of the Renewal Front, Sergio Massa, and governor of the province of Córdoba, José Manuel de la Sota, today signed a series of pacts in the provincial capital and held a meeting behind closed doors, heightening speculation of an electoral alliance for 2015.

Addressing reporters in Córdoba, Massa refused to comment on the possibility of co-operation with the governor.

«Politics is not limited to parties or positions, it also includes the development of public policies,» he signalled.

But sources close to the former Tigre mayor affirmed that an agreement with De la Sota would be «a very useful tool» for the Renewal Front’s national plans.

«It is a very strong political accord and a very strong action. Sergio went to Córdoba with an imporant committee,» Noticias Argentinas heard from the unnamed source.

Lawmakers Gilberto Alegre and Graciela Camaño, new Tigre mayor Julio Zamora and Massa’s wife Malena Galmarini, also Tigre Human Development and Sanitary Policy secretary, accompanied the national deputy on the trip.

De la Sota also took the opportunity to praise his counterpart ahead of today’s meeting, stating that Massa was trying to «replace slogans with ideas, and arrogance with humility… to end the divisions that hurt us.»

«Argentine society is asking us to go down a road where government means action, and governing means fixing problems the people cannot solve. The most important thing is for us to be capable of talking and finding solutions,» the governor underlined.
