Storm brings heavy rain, traffic havoc amid end of Carnival holiday

Heavy rains marked the last day of the Carnival holidays with the National Meteorological Service (SMN) issuing a weather alert for Buenos Aires City, La Plata City, the northeastern area of Buenos Aires province and the southeast of the Entre Ríos province.

According to the SMN, total rainfall could reach 80 mm in the hardest hit areas. The strong weather conditions caused traffic havoc in the Panamerica highway, affecting holiday travellers who were returning back home after a 4-day-break.

Meanwhile, earlier this morning, two cars crashed in the intersection of the Congreso and Balbín Avenues in the BA City neighbourhood of Coghlan and a truck hit two cars in the provincial locality of Campana resulting in one person seriously injured.
