Moyano and Barrionuevo: ‘CGT factions are unified’

MOYANOGeneral Workers’ Confederation (CGT) faction leaders Hugo Moyano and Luis Barrionuevo have affirmed that the two trade unions “have been unified,” during a press conference after a meeting they held with Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri.

“This unity is now beyond discussion”, affirmed Teamster leader Moyano, while emphasizing that now “we are the majority”, within the unionist sector.

For his part, agricultural workers’ leader Gerónimo “Momo” Venegas stated that this unification did not exclude “working together” with the pro-government strand of the CGT led by Antonio Caló.

Moyano highlighted stood out the presence of two unionists, Roberto Fernández from UTA central and Omar Maturano head of “La Fraternidad” syndicate, both allied with the so called “CGT Balcarce”, under President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s orbit.

This alliance represents the first unified front ahead of the upcoming presidential elections in 2015.
