President Cristina Fernández has called on other nations in the Latin American region to think and act as one economic entity, during the CELAC summit held today in Havana, Cuba.
«We must see ourselves as an economic bloc, because time is running out and the need is growing,» CFK told heads of state from around Latin America and the Caribbean in her speech.
Fernández de Kirchener also highlighted the debt situation in the continent and gave Argentina as an example:
“In 2003, our debt in foreign currency was equal 150 percent of the GDP, while now, it’s only eight percent”, she described.
The head of state gave thanks for the support given by the countries regarding the Malvinas territorially dispute, and reaffirmed “the fight against colonialism”, as she urged the UK government to retake the dialogue.
“Integration cannot be just one issue as part of an agenda, but a state policy in each country”, emphasised Fernández de Kirchner.
Cuban president Raúl Castro was in charge of delivering the inaugurating address in the II Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States that is taking place that country and will concluded tomorrow.
