Car production falls 20% in November

carsThe automotive industry saw sharp falls in November compared to the same month of the previous year, with figures for both car production and exports well down on 2012 figures.

The car production index revealed that 62.186 units were fabricated in November, which represents a drop of 20,2 percent on November 2012.

The exportation of vehicles fell even further, registering a 24,6 percent reduction, according to a report presented by the Automotive Factory Association (ADEFA).

“Analyzing the numbers, the contraction of the main variables –import and export- are directly linked to patterns registered earlier in the Brazilian market, the main export destination for Argentine-produced cars”, the study concluded.

On the other hand, the ADEFA affirmed that “annual figures show positive growth rates for the sector” and assured that “the situation in Brazil is a warning call in order to keep working together with the pubic and private sector in order to take measures which will allow the promotion of investments”.
