Capitanich and Macri agree on ‘shared agenda’ during meeting

Capitanich and MacriNational Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich and Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri met today for the first time since the new cabinet member took his position, with both politicians exalting a «shared agenda» on addressing reporters following the summit.

The Kirchnerite ex-governor of Chaco received the PRO chief in Government House, where they spoke privately before receiving reporters in a joint press conference. Capitanich emphasised the value of such dialogue, marking his first talks with an opposition leader.

«It is very important to have decided on an agenda to mark the path to progress,» the politician stated, adding that during the meeting issues such as conflicts over waste disposal, pending public transport works, access to international finance for stategic projects and the workings of Acumar were discussed, among other subjects.

Macri, meanwhile, affirmed that «it was a positive meeting, in which paths of cooperation were set.» The City head also took the opportunity to request more action in two areas relating to the national government.

«We spoke about the negative consequences of inflation in people’s lives and about the rise of drug trafficking, which we are prepared to work together on,» he fired.
