The 30 legislators elected in October’s polls were today sworn in to the City legislature, while members of the house also announced the blocs that each member would integrate for the new parliamentary session.
The first and second vice-presidents remained Cristian Ritondo and Dante Gullo, representing the PRO and Victory Front (FpV) parties respectively. Surprisingly, meanwhile, Jorge Taiana (FpV) and UNEN’s María Eugenia Estenssoro were not awarded posts in their blocs.
Maximiliano Ferraro was selected third vice-president ahead of the former Civic Coalition senator, and will be UNEN’s leading representative in the legislature.
Taiana was accordingly left out of consideration to lead the FpV bloc; that distinction belonging to Gabriela Alegre, who will replace national lawmaker-elect Juan Cabandié.
The 60 City benches will be divided into eight blocs and six single-member blocs. The Kirchnerite legislator preserve their status as second minority (after PRO) thanks to the 12 benches in their possession, while legislators from the FpV together with members from the New Encounter, Popular Progressive Front and Popular Alternative groupings will number 17.
A further surprise was the number of groups which will contain members the UNEN front, whose 11 representatives divided into three blocs and three single-member groupings.
