The Security Secretary praised the appointment of María Cecilia Rodríguez as Security Minister and of father Juan Carlos Molina to head the anti-drug trafficking office SEDRONAR. “At a global level, fight against drugs has failed,” Berni warned.
The official stressed the “work and commitment” that both Rodríguez and Molina have developed in social matters.
“The new minister (Rodríguez) has a lot of experience. She has been actively working in prevention at the Security Ministry and doing a very important job at most vulnerable neighborhoods of the Buenos Aires City, joining the Social Development Minister Alicia Kirchner,” Berni explained. “There is no possibility for a security policy without an important social inclusion program,” he told reporters today.
About Molina, a priest with close ties with President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner who was led social work in the Southern city of Río Gallegos, Berni highlighted his “commitment with society” and “profound convictions” in the war against drugs.
As he has already warned in other public statemnts, Berni insisted an efficient anti-drug trafficking agenda depends on a “comprehensive policy.” “It is not only a security problem,” the secretary said.
