President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner today returned to the Government House for the first time since retaking executive powers, as new members of the national cabinet were sworn in by the head of state.
The president arrived at the iconic building in Buenos Aires at 6.45pm, after 45 days away from the Government House as she recovered from surgery to remove a subdural haematoma from her brain.
Her arrival was greeted by hundreds of Kirchnerite supporters, who chanted to the president as she entered the House.
CFK later presided over the ceremony which officially confirmed her new appointees to the ministerial team. Among those in attendance was Jorge Capitanich, the governor of Chaco province named as successor to Juan Abal Medina as cabinet chief.
Axel Kicillof, the new Economics Minister, and Agriculture chief Carlos Casamiquela were also sworn in to the cabinet during the event, which took place in the White Room of the Government House.
