NGO squashes custody pledge of Massa’s anti-reelection commitment

MassaSergio Massa signs the »anti-reelection commitment» in presence of a notary in the city of La Plata

Sergio Massa’s coalition has suffered a first setback in its run to August’s PASO primaries. After signing a document ratifying the commitment of the Renewal Front to reject an eventual reelection of CFK, the NGO that was said to be in charge of “supervising” the agreement said instead they have accepted “no responsibility” with Massa’s front.

In a statement, the Association of Civil Rights (ADC in Spanish) –an NGO that has expressed its opposition to the government-sponsored justice reform- pointed out it has “assumed no commitment” with the Renewal Front as some of its leaders assured.

Earlier this week, Sergio Massa and his candidates headed a rally in the Buenos Aires province capital city of La Plata were they signed an anti-reelection commitment in the presence of a notary explaining its fulfillment will be «overseen» by the NGOs ADC and the Center for the Implementation of Public Policies for the Equity and Development (Cippec in Spanish).

But the ADC Association issued a statement rejecting Massa’s remarks and affirming they have made “no commitment with any candidates and parties involving the custody of campaign promises.”
