The government insists with the justice reform project against the majority of Argentineans, Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri said as he visited today the opposition protest camp set outside the Congress to reject the official move.
“People clearly knows what is good for Argentina, it needs more liberty, more democracy and judges to be closer to people,” the leader of the PRO party added to then consider that last week’s so called “18A” demonstration “has been the largest protest in the history of Argentina».
“People might have protested crime rates or inflation but they came to protest against something deeper: the defense of an independent justice,” he said.
When asked about Ricardo Lorenzetti’s position over the justice reform bills, Macri explained he “believes” in the head of the Supreme Court because he is “defending the independence” of the judiciary system.
In that sense, the Mayor diverged from Elisa Carrió’s statements accusing Lorenzetti of sealing a “spurious deal” with the administration of President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
