President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced during a televised speech that the country’s trade surplus has reached 12.6 billion dollars in 2012, which means it has climbed 26.4 percent year-on-year.
«We’ve ended a year with a trade surplus of 12.663 billion dollars, also reaching 502 millions during the last month of 2012,» the Head of State detailed during the rally held at the Government House.
Fernández de Kirchner highlighted that the exports were reduced 5 percent, while the imports 8 percent. «This shows that lots of things we hear have almost nothing to do» with reality, she continued.
The president also affirmed that «imports’ rights increased, which means what the businessmen pay to import. We’ve had a 25.6 percent increase in the imports’ rights.»
«And don’t try to mention inflation, because what’s imported comes from foreign countries and most of the imports come with much lower prices,» she warned.
