Lead suspect confesses to triple homicide

The lead suspect arrested in connection to the triple homicide in Benavídez confessed to having murdered his ex-girlfriend Romina Martínez’s grandmother, sister and one of her daughters to a judge today, underlining his ‘mental unwellness,’ court sources informed.

Earlier today, the brother of Romina Martínez, affirmed that Juan Carlos Cardozo, 24, the prime suspect arrested by police yesterday, had been reported by his sister at least twice for abuse and said that the man was “obsessive and very violent.”

Police sources said that according to the families of the victims, Cardozo had been reported once a year ago and then for a second time a month ago, Cardozo’s former partner confirmed.

“She had reported him to a jury for women and at the police station,” told Gastón, the brother of murder victim Romina Martínez, who was stabbed to death. The man further said that he didn’t know what became of those reports.

The murders were discovered yesterday morning in a house on Uruguay street in the Buenos Aires province neighbourhood of Benavídez, Tigre, where Martínez’s grandmother, sister and one of her daughters were all stabbed to death.
