The national government has published today on the Official Gazette the continuation of all subsidies -and their caps- to bus and train companies, as well the tariff hike for all commuters who haven’t got their SUBE top-up card starting on August 6.
The announcements were published today at the Official Gazette by a resolution issued by the Interior and Transportation Ministry.
Thus, and following the announcements made by Interior minister Florencio Randazzo last Thursday, the national government has set a subsidy cap of 965 million pesos for bus companies operating within the Buenos Aires City and Metropolitan area, and 397 million pesos for bus companies operating in the rest of the country.
Thus, any extra costs carried by the transport companies will have to be afforded by either municipal or provincial administrations.
Likewise, the government of President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner decided that as from August 6, those who haven’t the SUBE top-up card will be no longer granted with subsidized tariffs, thus the minimum fare for bus will increase from 1.10 to 2 pesos, while train fares it will move from 0.80 cents to 1.50 pesos.
