BA province to finish paying mid-year bonuses before Friday

The Buenos Aires province government announced that between it will pay the second half of the mid-year bonus to its more than 550,000 public workers between Wednesday and Friday, putting an end to a long chain of conflicts between unions, opposition and ruling party leaders.

Governor Daniel Scioli will finish paying the mid-year bonus with a $600 million pesos loan it obtained from the provincial pension funds.

“We will finish paying the mid-year bonus to workers in the public sector between Wednesday and Friday,” a press release said.

This puts an end to the controversy that arose several weeks ago when Scioli initially announced his decision to pay the mid-year bonus in four installments due to the severe fiscal deficit his province is going through.
