The Buenos Aires province chapter of the CTA labour grouping along with state workers represented by ATE and members of the province’s biggest teaching union Suteba were on strike today in rejection of the four-installment payment offer for mid-year bonuses, blocking off roads across the City and La Plata.
Tens of thousands of teachers, doctors and judicial employees joined in to protest the decision by Governor Daniel Scioli’s administration to pay the July bonus in four installments instead of the usual single payment.
«We want them to change their mind, to reverse this decision,» Suteba head, Roberto Baradel, told local radio.
The union grouping marched to the National Congress this morning.
The group split, with one faction marching this afternoon to Callao at 200, in the neighbourhood of Congreso where the Buenos Aires Province delegation building is.
Other groups were marching to Plaza Italia and others, separately in the City of La Plata.
The CICOP (Buenos Aires province Health professionals union) joined the state workers on their strike.
