Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman defended Argentina’s “profitability” and the “high quality of foreign investment” in the country, as he assured that there’s a “special interests campaign” led by international economic groups that are looking to hinder Argentina’s investment credibility.
“There’s a special interests campaign led by international economic groups that for many years made an average of 9 percent profit in this country and now expect Argentina to continue to deliver since their headquarters are losing money due to the crisis affecting the more developed regions of the world,” he said.
“In the last few years, companies reached record levels of profitability,” he said, comparing what companies made back in the 90s when profits would average an annual 6 percent.
The Foreign Minister stressed that Argentina “will not allow foreign investments to gamble financially. They have to be focused on developing the economy.”
