Trains of Buenos Aires (TBA) owner Claudio Cirigliano, who’s arrested as part of the Once train accident and being investigated for “obstructing justice” and “information hiding”, told Federal Judge Claudio Bonadío that the accident’s responsibility should fall off the motorman, who couldn’t stop the train due to his physical impairment, during a questioning.
A total of 51 passengers died and 700 injured on February 22nd, when a Sarmiento line train couldn’t stop when entering the Once terminal station and crashed against the platform’s end.
Cirigliano’s testimony completed a series of three questionings led by Bonadío, which started yesterday with the other three directors of the Sarmiento and Mitre train lines Carlo Ferrari, Darío Tempone and Daniel Rubio, who also remained arrested and are being investigated for “obstructing justice” and removing vital accounting information of the company.
The Federal Police yesterday raided rolling-stock manufacturing company Enfer, which belongs to Cirigliano, in order to look for TBA accounting information allegedly removed by the company’s directors from its offices.
Ferrari, who testified yesterday, admitted removing those documents but said he intended to “protect them.”
Reportedly, Cirigliano’s house was also raided yesterday.
