Jaime: ‘I do not feel responsible for the Once train crash’

Former Transport Secretary, Ricardo Jaime, further reiterated his innocence regarding the causes of the Once train crash, which killed 51, and against claims of corruption during his six-year appointment. Jaime stated that between 2003 and 2009, “more investments than ever” were made on public transport.

He also defended himself by indicating that when he took on the role of Transport Secretary “the train system across Argentina was totally destroyed, with no investment placed on them whatsoever.”

Jaime has been accused of multiple crimes during his stead as Transport Secretary. Today he spoke with a local radio station and to that regard, sustained that he is «innocent until proven guilty.»

When questioned about who is to blame for the devastating train crash at Once station, he said, “I don’t feel as though I am responsible for the accident,” which occurred almost three months ago in one of Buenos Aires’ busiest stations.

In line with the criticisms toward the Government Secretary over the causes of the Once train crash, Jaime stated that “the directors of TBA are totally mistaken” to question the State.
