La Plata Massacre: Former boyfriend back in custody after new suspect’s testimony

Osvaldo Martínez, former boyfriend of one of the four victims massacred last year, was put back in custody after the testimony given to police authorities by Joaquín Quiroga, who was detained earlier this morning after forensic experts determined that Quiroga’s DNA’s matches genetic traces found at the crime scene.

According to the police, Quiroga’s DNA’s matches genetic traces found at the crime scene. During a first questioning, sources revealed that Quiroga confessed to have been present at the moment of the killing but accused Martínez of being the perpetrator and forced him to leave his DNA all over the crime scene.

Since the beginning of the investigation, Martínez has been the crime’s main suspects.After Quiroga’s confession a detention order was issued this morning to put Martínez back in custody.

Thus, the two man are suspected of murdering four women, including an 11-year-old girl, on November 27, 2011 in the Buenos Aires province capital of La Plata.

Susana de Bártoli 63, Bárbara Santos, 29 and her 11 year old daughter Micaela, and friend Marisol Pereyra, 30, were murdered at Bártoli’s residence.
