Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) head José Ignacio de Mendiguren reiterated his claim for a revision of the non-automatic licensing for imports and warned companies have services impaired by the lack of consumables and agricultural inputs caused by import barriers imposed by the national government.
“The lack of consumables hit the industries’ activities in a very direct manner,” he explained adding “Argentina bears a close relationship between imports and the level of activity.”
The industrialist also mentioned a meeting held between UIA members and Brazil’s ministers Guido Mantega (Economy) and Fernando Pimentel (Development) where he reiterated the sector’s intentions to maintain good trading relations with the neighboring country. He said they had no intentions to “buy less from Brazil.”
“We would like to overcome our inconveniences and sell them more. Argentina could at least count for six million of imports of those 30 million Brazil trades with other countries,” he said.
