The controversy over the transfer of the subway system is moving more toward the courts than politics. Although the national government formally intimated the City administration led by Mauricio Macri to take over the management of service, City officials ratified its refusal.
Buenos Aires City Deputy Mayor, María Eugenia Vidal, said the City government is “far from agreeing the transfer through normal dialogue with the national government”, and insisted that the administration of President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is “legally responsible for the subway service.”
Thus, Vidal came on stage to respond to the intimation sent by the national government to Macri to “take responsability” for the subway.
“The contract of the company that operates the subway (Metrovías) remains with the national government,” concluded Vidal.
