Economy Minister Hernán Lorenzino.
Economy Minister Hernán Lorenzino and Central Bank governor Mercedes Marcó del Pont took part in the G-20 meetings in Mexico and focused on the creation of employment and strengthening of the domestic market.
Both Lorenzino and Marcó del Pont discussed about the importance of creating a better scenario of favourable policies aimed at creating and improving employment and strengthening the domestic market.
In a financial context more stable than the one that came with the end of 2011, with the restructuring process of the Greek debt and employment levels in the US improving, projections for this year seem to be more optimistic.
Along with his Brazilian counterpart, Lorenzino said it was important for the G20 to discuss matters such as employment and social inclusion. “We need to sustain the demand, and to do so we must put policies that focus on employment and social inclusion in the spotlight,” he said.
He also blasted credit-rating agencies and said that “they choose to downgrade a country’s rating, which adds to the destabilization of an economy in trouble.”
