Transport Secretary Juan Pablo Schiavi said that the Government will keep distributing SUBE electronic cards throughout several outlets including Once, Retiro and Constitución train stations, shopping centres and mobile outposts along seaside resorts.
“Nobody will be without their electronic cards if they wish to be part of this system, which is optional,” the Government official stated.
Saturday’s special procedure will include the distribution of SUBE cards in Once, Constitución and Retiro train stations, in Correo Argentino mail outlets, in Plaza de Mayo and in several outlets along seaside touristic spots.
On Sunday, distribution will continue in the seaside resorts as well as in the most important City and Greater Buenos Aires area shopping centres.
Starting Monday January 30th, ANSES social security agencies will also distribute the cards in Hurlingham, Turdera, San Fernando, La Plata and in the ANSES headquarters in Córdoba 1100.
“We want to reach all citizens who need the cards, which isn’t totally accounted for and we have already distributed 6 million cards,” Schiavi added.
“We see quite a lot of dispersion, and we want to start distributing the cards in places where people can have quick access to the cards,” the Transport Secretary added, following the massive turnout of people requiring the cards.
Last weekend, the Government launched a publicity spot saying that those users of the SUBE card will continue to pay the same bus fares, but those who choose not to, “will have to pay the full tariff,” as from February 10th.
“We think it is important that all of us belong to the system, which will give advantages to its holders and will also help the State have a better control of the subsidies allotted to public transport passengers,” he added.
Schiavi also apologized to citizens who had to make long queues to get the cards under the glaring sun and thanked “the huge effort of our volunteers, who are working to explain how the cards work.
