Three people were killed and at least six of them were seriously injured after more than a dozen vehicles crashed on route 9, closed to the city of Campana, in the Buenos Aires province, firemen sources said.
The accident took place at the Km 83 marking. The three victims were all riding on the same car, headed towards Rosario.
“It was a chain collision. We’re still trying to figure out the motives,” the local firemen spokesman Miguel Sánchez indicated, and hinted that the fact that the grass on the side of the road was on fire “might have been one of the causes.”
According to the firemen chief, ten cars, two trucks and a van were involved in the crash that left three people dead
Sánchez explained that the three victims were traveling in a Chevrolet Meriva. “A fourth person in the car was seriously injured and was immediately taken to the Zárate hospital.”
He also indicated that “six other seriously injured people were taken to the hospital, along with five or six others who were not critically injured.”
“The Meriva vehicle ended up under one of the trucks and was rammed from behind by a Sprinter van,” Sánchez explained.
